The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise will make a comeback in 2017 with the fifth film, "Dead Men Tell No Tales," announced to hit theaters on July 7, Comic Book reports. The film welcomes back Orlando Bloom as Will Turner and Johnny Depp in his Academy Award-nominated role of Captain Jack Sparrow.

Fresh faces are also set to grace the film's fifth installment, which features The Maze Runner's Kaya Scodelario, who recently opened up about the film, telling Movie Pilot, "It [does have] a lot more of the first movie, that's what they wanted to bring it back to. [The producers] want to take it back to the beginning again. They wanted it to have this epic journey, and for it to make sense, and for it to tie things up, and also lead to new storylines."

Scodelario will be playing Carina Smyth, whose goal in the film is to find the trident of Poseidon. Digital Spy reported that according to the 23 year old actress, "[Carina] is an astronomer, and she is an academic. She's fighting for the right to study at university, because women couldn't at that time."

Scodelario added that "She's on her own journey—looking for the trident of Poseidon—and she has a diary with clues, and she encounters Jack Sparrow along the way, and he messes everything up. As he does. And it's fun!"

The Collider also reported Dead Men Tell No Tales will feature Javier Bardem as the villain, and other stars such as The Giver's Brenton Thwaites, The Patience Stone's Golshifteh Farahani, and Geoffrey Rush, Kevin R. McNally, and Stephen Graham coming back to play Barbossa, Gibbs, and Scrum, respectively.

"Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas," Disney's press release read, according to the Collider.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is written by Jeff Nathanson, who also worked on Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Catch Me If You Can. Directors Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning are helming the film, with Jerry Bruckheimer producing.

The film hits theaters on July 7, 2017.
