'The Walking Dead' season 6 spoilers, air date & trailer: 90-minute season opener promises more walkers & gore [video]
Since the release of "The Walking Dead" season 6 trailer last September 27 during an episode of "Fear the Walking Dead", fans can't help but get frighteningly excited about what will unfold right before their half-covered eyes. With all the rumors and spoilers on the Internet, it looks like one thing is for sure -- the promised gore and walkers are back.
Movie Pilot writes that Greg Nicotero will be directing the series opener and instead of a story-telling approach like what he did during the last two seasons, the director will let flashbacks and present shots gradually tell the story. This will be ended with an absolute cliffhanger that will definitely pique the interest or irk the fans to the point that they will be begging for more. But, like most TWD episodes, it is a sure formula to make fans come back next week to see what is going to happen next.
Another exciting plot revelation that fans are waiting for is the return of the walkers, something that Season 5 lacked. As the trailer has shown, a huge horde of walkers will be the biggest danger Rick and his group are going to face, much like the scenario in the first season. The producers have been teasing that they will be unleashing the biggest number of walkers that ever graced the show and apparently, they are staying true to their promise so fans, expect to shiver in fright and joy.
Besides the obvious gore and killing spree, everyone is waiting for the impending rivalry between Rick and Morgan, something that the trailer hinted on as well, Den of Geek reports. Also, it seems that Abraham and Sasha are going to do something big that will probably be crucial for the first half of Season 6.
A few more casting has been made and it involves the character Jesus, who will be played by Tom Payne and a possible Negan role will be played by Xander Berkeley who was cast under the name Rich. Speculations are running wild about Berkeley's role because if he is indeed the "Narcissistic, egotistical, quick to braggadocio and anger, his own skin is his principal concern. He feeds off the superiority of being in control, but he plays it off with Senator-like charm. He’s vibrant and has the charisma of a car salesman," then he could well off be Season 6's newest villain.
Many rumors are also surrounding fan favorites Glenn and Maggie, played by Steven Yeun and Lauren Cohan, respectively. If the comic books will be the basis, it might spell trouble for Glenn but according to Entertainment Weekly, Yeun shares it might be a good time to reflect about family, as Glenn has never seen his.
Another potential plot for Glenn is his awkward relationship with Nicholas, whom last season he nearly killed. Moving forward to this season, will there be any improvement in their pairing or will the arrival of Negan put an end to the existence of Glenn?
With all these rumors and speculations, fans must be definitely psyched by now. But don't fret, "The Walking Dead" Season 6 returns on October 11 at AMC.
