'American Horror Story: Hotel' release date, news & spoilers: Lady Gaga 'felt alive' and 'herself' as Countess Elizabeth
Lady Gaga takes on the role of Countess Elizabeth, the one who runs Hotel Cortez, in "American Horror Story: Hotel." During the premiere of the show on Saturday, the singer shared that the role made her feel alive.
"It's been so fun," Lady Gaga, 29, said, as reported by Denver Post. "Everybody on this cast has been really open and available to me in a very honest way, so I'm able to be myself in a way I feel like I haven't been in a really long time, so they are just making me feel so alive."
The "Poker Face" singer also took the time to praise Ryan Murphy, the show's co-creator and executive producer.
"I'm just really happy to be a part of it. I like being a part of someone else's vision it's really exhilarating," she said.
Gaga's co-star Matt Bomer, who plays The Countess' lover, Donovan, had many good things to say about her during the FX series party on Saturday.
"She is one of the most incredible people I've ever met in my life," Bomer said in an interview with Access Hollywood. "She's so intelligent, so kind, so funny, so approachable, and she brought so much work to the table. She worked so hard on this role and she's one of my favorite actresses I've ever worked with and I'm lucky to call her a friend."
According to Billboard, Bomer and the other co-stars of Gaga call her by her given first name "Stefani."
"It's sort of takes the mythos and all the preconceptions of Lady Gaga out of the equation so we can just relate to each other like human beings and actors in a scene," Bomer explained why. "She's so approachable that she totally just was there for us ... at by the time the cameras were rolling and we were in a scene together, we weren't thinking about the fact that you were doing a scene with Lady Gaga."
According to Denis O'Hare who plays Liz Taylor in the fifth season, Gaga threw an exclusive party for the whole cast. O'Hare divulged that Gaga had a pool dyed to blood red and had bathing suits at the ready for those who were willing to swim. The party was awash with a lot of food and even had a half-naked bartender cater to the drinks. Gaga also served AHS regular, Angela Bassett, with an "obscene birthday cake" during the party, according to the report by Denver Post.
"American Horror Story: Hotel" will premiere Oct. 9, Wednesday on FX.
