'Fast & Furious 8' or 'XXX 3'? Vin Diesel talks about movies; slams 'dad bod' remarks on Instagram

Vin Diesel's recent "dad bod" criticism proves that women are not the only victims of Hollywood's insane aesthetic standards. The 48-year-old Fast & Furious star was recently photographed on his hotel balcony at the Shore Club in Miami, where he was relaxing without a shirt and taking a smoke, Us Magazine reports. Since the release of the photos, which show Diesel with a soft tummy and undefined arm muscles, critics have commented on his "dad bod."

People reports that Diesel took to Instagram to fire back, writing, "It is amazing the response from the journalists who I have been talking to for the last two days in New York."

The actor is currently promoting his latest film, The Last Witch Hunter, where he plays the titular character. He wrote, "Today one wanted to see the dad bod. Haha. I am wondering if I should show the picture... Body-shaming is always wrong! What do you think? #LastWitchHunter"

Diesel followed the first Instagram post with a photo of himself lifting his shirt to show off his rock-hard abs. He wrote, "The pic from yesterday... For those who wanted the show... For all the angels that love dad bod regardless... I will post an exclusive video on my Facebook when I am done with press today."

Diesel has three children, namely Hania Riley, Vincent Sinclair and Pauline, who was named after his late friend and Furious co-star Paul Walker. Deadline reported in August that the actor, whose franchises range from Furious to Riddick to Guardians of the Galaxy, will be reprising his role as Xander Cage in the upcoming installment of the xXx film franchise. xXx was released in 2002, with a sequel in 2005, which Diesel was not part of.

The actor announced via Instagram, "While I was filming XXX, guys on set called me Air Diesel... The time to return has come. Filming starts December in the Philippines."

Den of Geek reports that D.J. Caruso has come on board as the director for xXx. Caruso's credits include Disturbia, Taking Lives, Eagle Eye, and I am Number Four.

"I’m excited as hell about XXX," Diesel told io9. "D.J. Caruso is directing it, which is exciting."

He added, "XXX is one of those films you do when you need to have a little fun. When the weight and pressures of all the other things have gone so far that you need to have a character that you can just have fun and more comment on life and comment on the outcome than being in it like Dom Torretto [from Fast and Furious]. Dom is very much the center of the storm, Xander is more the guide to something else and you’re just with him."

Fans can catch Vin Diesel in the upcoming The Last Witch Hunter, which hits theaters on October 23.
