Game director Brian Horton reveals in an interview that Lara's experiences in the "Tomb Raider" reboot were the cause of the sequel.

In an interview to Game Spot, Brian Horton sheds light on the stage that "Rise of the Tomb Raider" is built on. It was revealed that after surviving the ordeals on Yamatai Island and losing some of her friends in the process, Lara Croft wasn't only physically and emotionally traumatized, she is also struggling mentally in coping with what is true and what is myth.

"When we think about what Lara's gone through, she's suffered through these traumatic events, seen friends die, and come out of the situation forever changed," Horton said.

In the trailer, we see Lara having a talk with a psychologist. In retelling the events of what happened, the doctors and the people around her begins to think that she's slowly losing her mind. Lara disassociates from society and copes in the best way she knows how: by going in another adventure. In trying to differentiate the myth from what is real, Lara becomes treads many dangerous paths and her friends start becoming worried for her.

However, Noah Hughes, the game's creative director doesn't belive that Lara intentionally became an "adrenaline junkie." He explains that her father's appearance in the game gives the story a sense of cohesion when it comes to understanding where Lara's love for archeology came from.

"The reason we bring [her father] in is to genuinely understand where the beginning of her passion came from, and how her distancing from her father became potential energy for realizing that all along that she was pursuing something slightly outside of truth," Hughes explained. "If at the very highest level you summarize it as Lara finishing her father's work, iIt's a gross understatement of her personal investment; her father's role was to share that passion early on with her as a child and to fuel her relationship with these ancient secrets."

As for the game play, Venture Capital Post reports that it will be based on tactical-stealth and strategy in order to clear Lara's new mission. While there are weapons available for use, these may not always help in getting out of difficult situations.

'Rise of the Tomb Raider' is set to exclusively launch on Xbox One and Xbox 360 on Nov. 10. The PS4 and Windows 10 PC versions will be released on 2016.
