iPhone 7 release date, specs & features: latest Apple smartphone to be water-proof, flexible & made from Sapphire Glass? [rumors]
The iPhone 7 is rumored to be water-proof and come with new Intel chips.
The iPhone 7 won't be unveiled until 2016 but there have been a lot of speculations going around about the specs and features of the latest smart phone from Apple. According to Mac World, the iPhone 7 will be 4.7 inches long, while the iPhone 7 Plus will be 5.5 inches. There might even be a redesign and as to how Apple will stray from their traditional metallic look for their phones, we won't know until next year.
As to why they might be renewing the look of the 7th generation may stem from the fact that the 6th ones look too similar. As for storage, the new iPhones may only have 32GB, 64GB and 128GB options as 16GB is too little to contain the latest apps and features of today, the outlet explained.
According to sources, Venture Beat reports that there are a thousand people working on Intel's 7360 LTE modem chips on 2016 iPhones which may well be the new iPhone 7. Since Apple has regularly been sing Qualcomm's 9X45 LTE cheap into their iPhone modems, the website says that the company may be dual-sourcing from both Qualcomm and now Intel.
Geek Snack reports that the new iPhone 7 may be waterproof along with Apple Watch 2. It may even have at least and IP68 certification similar to Sony'x Xperia smart phones line. If the iPhone 7 turns out to be waterproof, this suggests that the design body will be made from plastic such as polycarbonate. Additionally, iPhone 7 is scheduled to be released on September 2016 along with the Apple Watch 2 which was moved from its original release date of March next year.
According to the report by MacWorld, iPhone 7 may be using Sapphire glass which is stronger than Gorilla Glass and what was used by the Apple Watch. The glass is said to be more durable and is capable of protecting bigger screen displays where the iPhone 7 is rumored to be having.
It was recently known that the iPhone 6S features 3D Touch and not the rumored Force Touch. Expert Reviews states that the 3D Touch may be available in the iPhone 7. It may also come with dual-lens camera technology which the report states that Apple has been working on for at least three years. With Apple's acquisition of LinX Imaging this year, we can expect improved image quality for the new smart phones. The LinX sensors can apparently rapidly auto-focus which can result in more crisp and high-quality photos.
