Cavs news: Lebron James likely to play in season opener against Chicago Bulls

The NBA 2015-2016 season tips off on Tuesday, Oct. 27, with three highly-anticipated matchups, one of which will feature two of the league's elite teams that collided for last year's Eastern Conference semifinals--- the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Chicago Bulls.

And it seems like the Cavs and Bulls fans will be regaled with an exciting opening-day game with Derrick Rose and, most likely, Lebron James both slated to lead each of their respective team's campaign as they clash on the hardcourt. The Cavs' ace player was given an anti-inflammatory injection last Oct. 13 for his ailing back which limited his pre-season appearance to just two games, according to Yahoo Sports.

James, 30, participated in his first full practice on Sunday, since he received the injection. For Cavs' head coach David Blatt, the practice is a good sign and a good step. He is hoping that this will bode well for the Tuesday game.

King James has already played for more than 900 career regular-season games spread across 13 seasons in the league. Last season, he did not see action for a total of 13 games, which is the most in his career, and also saw his lowest output, in terms of minutes logged per game (36.1 minutes), as part of his preventive maintenance, says Cleveland.com.

He also underwent the same injection treatment the previous season when he suffered back pains and minor injury in his left knee. But he was clear on letting people know that he was not slacking off with his conditioning.

"When they say rest, it's not like I've been sitting on my ass for a week and a half because I haven't. I've been doing so much strengthening and conditioning and things of that nature," James said.

"The rest comes from just not being able to be in contact practices and pounding out on the floor. It's always been in the works and if it happens again where I need to sit down for a week for the betterment of the team, then it's in the works as well."

Meanwhile, Derrick rose, whose career has been plagued with injuries, will also make the debut game for the Bulls amid speculations otherwise because of his recently sustained fractured left orbital during the start of their training camp. He played the pre-season game against the Dallas Mavericks and tallied 10 points in just 10 minutes of play to contribute on the win, the ABC News reported.
