Fans of George R. R. Martin now have a place where they can freely discuss their thoughts on the Game of Thrones books. The University of British Columbia is offering a course entitled "Our Modern Medieval: The Song of Ice and Fire as contemporary Medievalism."

Taught by Associate Professor Robert Rouse, Time says the course will delve into medieval history, as described by the popular book series.

As indicated on the syllabus, "The course will involve the reading of the five books (thus far) of the series, and the watching of the five season of the HBO series. Please make sure you've read these BEFORE the course begins, as it will problematic to try to catch up if you have not done so."

Besides reading all of the published books, students who want to enroll in this class are also expected to watch all the episodes from the television series.

Expect the requirements to change as new episodes and books are released, says Details.

Season 6 of the adaptation is expected to start in April 2016, according to Independent. Sources indicate that the new book may already be out by that time or earlier, around the end of 2015.

The Canadian university's course is not the first which examines the book series. According to Winter is Coming, there have been others including a Film Studies course, a class on cable technology and one which compares the first book to the TV adaptation.

Courses entirely devoted to books are not odd either. Telegraph has made a list of more bizarre classes, including one on marijuana management and Surf Science.

If that is not enough to whet the appetite, a video game version is also expected to be released on November 17. Cinema Blend states that the game will be available for eight platforms namely PS3, PS4, Xbox One and 360, iOS, Android, PC and Mac.

The report indicates that this is a tall order considering few developers have been successful in accomplishing this feat. Activision even has several studios working on the same game to make sure it is shipped without a glitch.

According to Geek, the story of the official game starts from the third season of the television series and will end right before Season 5 starts. Fans of the series will be delighted to know that many of the voices behind the game characters are same ones from the television series.

This version of the Game of Thrones game contains six episodes, says Geek. Cinema Blend states the first episode is available for free for all platforms except PC.
