Ronda Rousey serves as judo coach to Vin Diesel's daughter; actor says he's 'creating a beast'
Vin Diesel's tough guy exterior showed a sensitive side when he spoke to WENN recently about his 7-year-old daughter, Hania Riley. In fact, People reports that it's his love for his daughter that led him to prepare her and help her learn self defense early in life. Who else could he have asked to help mold his little Hania into a warrior princess? None other than UFC bantamweight champion fighter, Ronda Rousey, who made an appearance in Diesel's latest Furious flick.
"Because of her 'Auntie' Ronda Rousey, [Hania] is now an orange belt with stripes in judo," Diesel said proudly. The actor admitted that as his eldest child grows up, he has begun to think about dealing with potential suitors for his little girl. "I'm dealing with it early," he mused.
"First of all, I feel sorry for anyone that has to [date my daughter]. I wouldn't want that on my worst enemy because I'm just that kind of dad," the 48-year-old actor said. "I've been thinking about this since the day I cut the umbilical cord, and because of that, I made a decision early on that I was going to do everything in my power to empower her to handle it herself."
The Last Witch Hunter star admitted, "I'm creating a beast, and I want her to be able to say 'No means no.'"
FOX Sports reports that like Hania, Rousey was also trained at an early age because her mother, AnnMaria De Mars, who won the gold medal during the 1984 World Judo Championships.
Rousey graces the cover of the November issue of SELF, in which she spoke of the best advice she has been given, saying, "The one that really sticks out in my mind comes from my mom. She’d always tell me that you have to be your best on your worst day, because what if the Olympics fall on a bad day?"
The 28 year old athlete also credits her mother for the lessons she had learned throughout her career so far. She said, "My mom never forced us to do anything. I fight, but my three sisters don’t. What she really taught me was the value of giving up what you want now for what you want most. My sisters were taught that, too, and they carried it through the professions they decided to pursue."
Rousey is set to battle it out with 34-year-old Holly Holm on Nov. 14. Meanwhile, fans can catch Vin Diesel in his latest film, The Last Witch Hunter, which is now showing in theaters.
