'Street Fighter V' release date, gameplay & trailer: 6 new fighters, return of Dhalsim confirmed
The new Street Fighter is coming to shelves in the United States on Feb. 16, bringing back popular characters from their older games as well as coming up with some brand new concepts.
One detail that is sure to excite longtime fans of the game is the return of Dhalsim. The long-range fighter first appeared in Street Fighter II says Forbes.
Although Dhalsim appears to have retained most of his classic moves, IGN says the fighting Yogi on the newest Street Fighter game looks older, features a beard and will have a revised ability to teleport.
Forbes says the new look is in line with where the storyline starts in Street Fighter V.
Engadget says six additional characters have been added to this game's lineup although their identities have not yet been revealed.
Players will have a choice of 16 characters. Unlocking the six mystery characters brings the total to 22 says VG24/7.
All six additional characters can be unlocked for free using the game's Fight Money. According to the report, there are several ways to earn Street Fighter V currency.
One way is to complete some of the game's Daily Challenges. This can involve winning several matches in a row or performing specific moves.
Leveling up characters and buying the in-game currency are also possible. There are currently no details yet on pricing.
Capcom still continues to make major changes to its characters. More recently, the change concerns masked Vega.
In a report by Design & Trend, it appears that developers have made the character weaker than it was prior to the tournament during Paris Games Week. According to the report, a number of players during the beta testing phase complained that the character was too powerful, prompting developers to make some quick revisions to Vega's moves.
As a result, some of the character's combos are no longer usable. A complete list of the most notable changes can be found inside the report.
VG24/7 says Street Fighter V will hit store shelves in the United States and Europe on Feb. 16, 2016. The game will be available in Japan two days later says Forbes.
Street Fighter V is currently only available for PlayStation4 and PC. For gamers looking for a more realistic arcade feel to the game, Forbes recommends trying out PlayStation4's Real Arcade Pro controller.
