Surface Book vs Surface Pro 4 specs, price & review: which one suits your taste? [POLL]
Microsoft is now staking a claim in producing their own line of tablets and laptops with the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book. Although they hold similar names, there are stark differences with these two offers.
According to Android Origin, the Surface Pro 4 is designed as a tablet that can be used as a laptop by attaching the Extended Keyboard. On the other hand, the Surface book is meant to be a laptop but doubles as a tablet if you remove its keyboard.
Between the two, the Surface Book is bigger with a screen size of 13.5 inches. The Surface Pro 4 features a 12.3-inch screen says The Rem.
Under the hood, both devices offer similar specifications. Consumers can choose between the Core M or from the i5 to i7 for the Surface Pro 4 while, for the Surface Book, there is the i5 to i7 processors.
When it comes to memory, both devices can hold up to 16GB worth of RAM. Storage options are between 128GB to 1TB SSD for both Microsoft gadgets.
One stark difference is that users can opt for discrete Nvidia GPU on the Surface Book. The Surface Pro 4 only comes with an integrated GPU.
According to Gizmag, both devices also come with Microsoft's Surface Pen. On the Surface Book, the pen can be used to scribble messages, search online or even send emails.
Picking one between the two depends on the intended purpose.
With the 21-percent screen size different, the review says the Surface Book is better if you prefer working on a desk or like working on a laptop. On the other hand, the Surface Pro 4 is great for tablet activities such as watching a movie, reading a book and so on.
In terms of battery life, the review gives it a draw. However, it must be noted that the Surface Book comes with two batteries, the smaller one attached to the screen.
Removing the keyboard on the Surface Book makes it lighter but usage will also be shorter. Without the keyboard and larger battery attached, users can expect to use the Surface Book for two hours at the most.
If budget is a major concern, consumers can save more with going for the smaller Surface Pro 4. Attaching an i5 processor and 128GB SSD storage to both devices, the Surface Pro is $370 cheaper.
Prices for the Surface Pro 4 at the Microsoft Store start at $899. For the Microsoft Surface Book, the lowest is $1,499.
