Wired recently conducted an extensive interview with "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" director and Episode VIII executive producer J.J. Abrams. Although The Force Awakens has not yet hit the cinemas, Abrams has already revealed a few clues on what fans and moviegoers can expect for Episode VIII.

According to Abrams, "The script for VIII is written. I'm sure rewrites are going to be endless, like they always are."

For the Episode VII director, he believes transparency is key to making the movies flow although Abrams also understands that Episode VIII will be Rian Johnson's movie.

"He's neither asking for nor does he need me to oversee the process," Abrams said during the interview.

Abrams says there have been numerous meetings with Johnson and producer Ram Bergman. Johnson has also been watching dailies and early cuts from The Force Awakens to make the transition from this movie to the next "as seamless as possible."

"Rian has asked for a couple of things here and there that he needs for his story. He is an incredibly accomplished filmmaker and an incredibly strong writer," Abrams said during the interview.

In terms of casting, Den of Geek has confirmed that Mark Hamill will again play the role of Luke Skywalker, Benicio del Toro will be playing a villain.

Several celebrities are still in the running for the leading lady role for the newest Star Wars installment including Gina Rodriguez, Tatiana Maslany, and Olivia Cooke. Gugu Mbatha-Raw is still contending for a role in the movie.

From the Episode VII movie, actors who are confirmed to be coming back for Episode VIII include Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac and John Boyega among others.

During the Wired interview, Abrams admits that casting was one of his biggest challenges in making the Star Wars movies. He was looking for actors who could carry three films or even more.

"We knew we weren't just casting one movie—we were casting at least three. That, to me, was the biggest challenge. When we met Daisy Ridley when we found John Boyega, and then Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver came aboard, we got really excited," he added.

Chemistry was important for Abrams, especially with putting characters from the first movies into the next installments. Abrams was anxious about how the audience would react to putting BB-8 to classic characters such as C-3PO and R2-D2.

The report from Den of Geek confirms that Episode VIII will be shot on Ireland's Skellig Michael. Although weather is less than ideal, cast and crew have begun shooting.

According to The Verge, Episode VII is set to hit theaters on Dec. 18 of this year while Den of Geek says Episode VIII is slated for May 26, 2017.
