'Dancing with the Stars' season 21 news: Tamar Braxton quits show due to blood clots

Earlier this week, "Dancing with the Stars" performer Tamar Braxton was rushed to the hospital due to pneumonia. Although she managed to save herself from elimination by making it to the group performance, Braxton eventually had to check herself back into the hospital.

As she was rushed to the hospital on Monday night, ABC News says judges had to give scores for her first routine based on the duo's performance during the dress rehearsal. She made it back to the studio just in time to perform her second routine.

Braxton was taken back to the hospital after the group performance with Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter. It was during her second stay that she discovered that she had developed blood clots in her lungs.

She announced her departure from the show on her Instagram account.

"With a Heavy heart I regret to inform you that my season of #dwts has to come to an end," the 38-year-old celebrity wrote.

"I went back to the hospital (after the doctors didn't want me to leave in the first place) only to find out that I don't have pneumonia but something way more serious and that is having several P.E.'s (blood clots in both sides of my lungs)," Braxton continued.

In a statement to People, a spokesperson for the DWTS show confirmed her departure.

"Our pro and celebrity dancers' health is paramount. We wish her all the best and hope she recovers quickly."

Sharna Burness, Nick Carter's professional dance partner on "Dancing with the Stars" admired her amazing dedication. "I can't believe how much strength she had to get out there on that dance floor to not be disqualified tonight," she said of Braxton.

According to the celebrity's Instagram account, her present medical condition has also forced her to end all upcoming tour dates. USA Today states that the singer had a previous commitment to perform with R&B singer Kem.

Braxton is the second celebrity to leave the show this season due to medical concerns. US Magazine says Kim Kolciak was taken off the list of performers for failing to compete.

The female celebrity suffered from a series of mini strokes due to an undiagnosed heart condition. She has since undergone heart surgery.

After Monday night's show, E! News conducted a short interview with Braxton's dancing partner, Val Chmerkovskiy. He had nothing but kind words for the celebrity singer.
