"Suicide Squad" producer Charles Roven explains why they're not pushing the movie for Rated R. Meanwhile, Jared Leto didn't come to the set unless he was called by his character's moniker, Mr. J.

In an interview with Collider, Roven revealed that they planned "Suicide Squad" for PG-13 instead of R Rating so that it would be consistent with other DC Universe movies that it shares with.

"We really want to make these films tonally consistent so that, as I said because this is a shared universe, at least our current thinking—and again, we're not dealing in absolutes because while this is business it's also a creative endeavor, so you want to leave yourself open to changing your mind, doing something different, being inspired, that's the whole process of filmmaking is you have to allow for inspiration as well as having a road map for what you're gonna do," Roven said. "So our plan right now is to make all these films PG-13. In some cases, you know, right there on the edge of PG-13, but still PG-13."

In the same interview, Roven shares that in order for Jared Leto to come on set as the Joker, he had to be called Mr.J.

"The group first wasn't sure because the AD's had to call him 'Mr. J' to get him to come to the set [laughs]," Roven explained. "And he did in many ways isolate himself from the rest of the group, but that's really what his character was, the purpose of his character in many ways, other than when he was with Harley or trying to get Harley."

In addition to isolating himself, there have been stories from Leto's co-stars about them receiving strange gifts. Will Smith who plays Deadshot revealed last month that Leto's characterization was so intense that he never met the actor outside his "Joker" character, Vanity Fair reports. The actor also received bullets and a letter from Leto.

Smith also revealed that Leto sent Margot Robbie who plays Harley Quinn, a love letter and a rat. Speaking to NY Daily News, Robbie revealed that he was terrified of Leto as his character. Over the months, she grew comfortable with the actor in his makeup, but when she saw him out of makeup once, she got terrified and only became comfortable when Leto was fully garbed in his Joker outfit.

"Suicide Squad" is coming to theaters on Aug. 5, 2016.
