Legendary Pictures' "Warcraft," which is internationally being released as "Warcraft: The Beginning", isn't arriving until June 2016, but the studio is already rolling out marketing for the anticipated Duncan Jones directed film. In fact, Collider reports that a new TV spot has been released, featuring new footage not present in the trailer which was released earlier this month.

Variety reports that unlike the film's game-turned-movie predecessors such as “Need for Speed”, “Hitman: Agent 47,” and “The Angry Birds Movie”, "Warcraft" actually caught the attention of gamers all over the world. In fact, according to stats, interest in the movie doubles the previous releases of its kind after 200,000 film searches in just five days.

Collider reports that the official synopsis of "Warcraft" reads, "The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home."

These two heroes come in the form of the knight Anduin Lothar, played by Travis Fimmel, and Durotan, played by Toby Kebell, who is best known for his work in "Wrath of the Titans", "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes", and this year's "Fantastic Four".

Director Duncan Jones, who came on board to helm the project after Sam Raimi's departure in 2013, recently spoke to BBC about the film, which he admitted was years in the making.

"They've been trying to make this film for a long time," the 44 year old director of the award-winning "Moon" and "Source Code" said. "When I came in I pitched what I thought it should be: essentially a war story where the story is told from both sides and both sides can be empathised with - and that is the film that we made."

BBC reports that this is the first big budget film for Jones and British producer Stuart Fenegan. While Jones recognizes that Warcraft does have a lot of followers in the form of gamers, his goal for the film was to appeal to more than just this type of audience.

Jones explained, "There's a huge fanbase for this game but it would be wrong to assume they are all going to turn up. There needs to be a broader audience. I don't think the film would be as good if you were filling it with in-jokes and storylines that assumed too much knowledge."

"I'm looking at what makes it appeal to me on a story level and who are the characters I can empathise with," he said.

"Warcraft" opens in theaters on June 10, 2016.
