‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ trailer, plot, release date & rumors: Mystique to lead the team?
'X-Men: Apocalypse' is not due for another six months but as early as now, we have new updates and details to whet the appetite of fans. Movie Pilot says this movie may be one of the franchise's best films ever produced.
With this new installment, Director Bryan Singer will be showing the rebirth of the X-Men. For some of the franchise's most popular stars, this may be their last appearances on the series.
Singer recently uploaded an image from the new X-Men movie installment on Instagram which reveals James McAvoy wearing Cerebro.
Based on The Movie Network's report, the trailer may be released during the showing of the movie 'Victor Frankenstein' on November 25. X-Men: Apocalypse will hit US theaters on May 27, 2016.
This is the first time that McAvoy has donned Professor X' signature bald look for the film. During recent interviews with On Demand Entertainment, McAvoy teased reporters by saying that the new film is the "the biggest we've ever done."
The plot for the movie has not been confirmed yet although a Collider report indicates that the story will start approximately 10 years after the 'Days of Future Past' plot and will end the trilogy that started with "First Class."
During this installment, moviegoers will see young versions of Cyclops, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, and Jubilee. Based on the comic book story, this young team will go against Apocalypse and his team of Four Horsemen which includes Magneto, Angel, Psylocke, and Storm.
Evan Peters plays Quicksilver has this to say about the upcoming movie:
"It's the biggest X-Men film, it's about the apocalypse, so the scope of the film is huge!"
Quicksilver has become popular after the release of 'X-Men: Days of Future Past.' The character is expected to play a huge role in the new movie although, with so many big names in the same movie, there is no way of knowing who will stand out the most.
According to Movie Pilot, there are many characters to watch out for in the 2016 movie. For one, there is Mystique and her turn from villain to anti-hero.
Professor Xavier may lead the X-Men, but the author believes that Mystique will lead the team on the field. As this could be Mystique's last appearance on X-Men, how the writers will develop her story will be of interest to viewers.
With Mystique's ability to change sides quickly, there is a theory which speculates that she may actually be an ally of Apocalypse.
According to the movie site, Quicksilver is also expected to play a major role in the story. Sources indicate that Quicksilver is the son of Magneto.
"The story is that my character is searching for his father and wants to find him," Peters told interviewers.
"It starts there and then he jumps on the X-Men train and gets sucked up in this whole Apocalypse madness: He tries to stop him from destroying the world."
