'The Good Wife' season 7 cast news, spoilers & updates: Julianna Margulies releases children's book in honor of late father; see touching details here
Julianna Margulies is creating a name for herself beyond television, as the award-winning actress recently released a children's book. The 49 year old actress, who achieved critical success and an Emmy Award for her role in NBC's "ER", is an eight-time Screen Actor Guild Award winner, making her the most awarded woman within the SAG. She also currently stars as the titular character attorney Alicia Florrick in the CBS legal drama "The Good Wife".
People reports that Margulies has recently released children's book based on a story that her late father wrote for her and her two sisters when they were still children.
"He was a special guy, and it feels good to be able to put something out into the world that he wrote," the actress said of her father, writer and Madison Avenue advertising executive Paul Margulies, who passed away in October last year at the age of 79. The late advertising executive was also known for creating the famous "Plop, plop, fizz, fizz" Akla-Seltzer slogan.
"It's a very loving, sweet story, and it's just about giving," Margulies said. The book, titled "Three Magic Balloons" is illustrated by Grant Shaffer, who is also the husband of "The Good Wife" star Alan Cummings. The book follows the story of three sisters who spend the money they received from their father to buy food for the zoo animals, instead of purchasing treats for themselves.
Daily Mail reports that according to Margulies, "A balloon man who has been watching them gives them magic balloons because they have kindness in their hearts."
"They tie them to their beds at night and the balloons make them go up, up, up into the sky, and all these angels and majestic animals come out to greet them," she explained. "All because of the kindness that they show."
Margulies is also a parent herself, as she and her husband, lawyer Keith Lieberthal, have a seven year old son together.
The actress believes that her father's story "would have worked back in the 70s when he wrote it, but today especially, children are so hyper-aware of things like what just happened in Paris."
"It's just another gesture to show them that if you are kind to others and think selflessly, incredible magic can happen. And that's really the message of the book," Margulies mused.
She said that her father "wanted everyone to have love in their hearts. He hated any kind of animosity, he really wanted everyone to find peace," and the book speaks of the same message.
"I feel lucky enough that I could have gotten it out there for him. It's just a really sweet, hopeful story that I think the world could use right now," Margulies said.
"Three Magic Balloons" is now available for pre-order on Amazon, and will be available for purchase beginning May 10, 2016.
