Colorado was rocked with devastating news on Friday when a male fired his gun inside a Planned Parenthood building, killing three victims and injuring nine more. Those who lost their lives in the shooting was 35-year-old Jennifer Markovsky, a mother of two, and 29-year-old Ke'Arre Marcell Stewart, a US Army veteran, Reuters reports. Garrett Swasey, a 44-year-old police officer, was also killed in the line of duty.

Planned Parenthood has been under great criticism after some of its officials were uncovered dealing with anti-abortion groups, discussing the possibility of providing human fetal tissue from the aborted babies. The nonprofit organization, which provides health services such as sex education and safe and legal abortion, since then had fallen victim to vandalism, and now, this violent crime.

CNN reports that President Obama released a statement condemning such violent acts, saying, "The last thing Americans should have to do, over the holidays or any day, is comfort the families of people killed by gun violence -- people who woke up in the morning and bid their loved ones goodbye with no idea it would for the last time. And yet, two days after Thanksgiving, that's what we are forced to do again."

The New York Times reports that details of the shooting have emerged, as the gunman, Robert L. Dear Jr., was said to have talked of "no more baby parts" in an interview with the authorities. Dear is being held without bail in a Colorado Springs jail, awaiting his appearance in court today. He claimed to be "anti-abortion", but the main reason behind his violent attack is still not clear. Dear, however, has been accused of domestic assault by his wife in 1999 and was charged with being a peeping Tom back in 2002. He was also arrested in 2003 when he was charged with two counts of animal cruelty, for which he was found not guilty.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch that his actions were a "crime against women receiving health care services."

Planned Parenthood Chief Experience Officer Dawn Laguens said, "I think there's a lot of belief that this qualifies as a form of domestic terrorism."

Meanwhile, conservative presidential candidate Mike Huckabee commented, "What he did is domestic terrorism, and what he did is absolutely abominable -- especially to us in the pro-life movement, because there's nothing about any of us that would condone or in any way look the other way on something like this."

Victims of the tragic incident are still seeking justice for the inhumane act for which their loved ones lost their lives. A fundraising page was also set up for Officer Swasey, who leaves behind his wife of 17 years and his children, a 10-year-old son and six-year-old daughter.
