'Break the Silence' domestic violence campaign artist being sued by Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner? [RUMORS]
Artist and activist AleXsandro Palombo seems to be under fire for a series of heavily edited photographs of celebrities that he published online in November for an anti-domestic violence campaign called "Break the Silence."
Cosmopolitan reports that Palombo used images of widely recognized celebrities Miley Cyrus, Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Emma Watson, and Angelina Jolie and edited them to make them appear battered and bruised. Together with a tagline "Life can be a fairytale if you break the silence", the images were published on his Facebook page.
"The biggest accomplice of violence is the silence, a silence which every year kills or causes permanent disability more than diseases or accidents," Palombo wrote in an accompanying caption. "Domestic violence is a social cancer that knows no boundaries nor social status, it can affect anyone, whether you're an ordinary person or a celebrity."
"To defeat him you need to use the antidote of culture by educating and raising awareness on Respect and Equality," he wrote. "Each of us has do their part to help increase awareness and to change things by any means."
He also cited on his Facebook post that 85 percent of domestic violence victims are women. New Zealand Herald reports that Palombo is also known for his works of "Disabled Disney Princesses," "Disney Princesses as Breast Cancer Survivors" and "The Simpsons Go To Auschwitz."
While his work garnered the Internet's attention, Independent reports that Palombo has apologized for offending anyone through his campaign, following reports that Kardashian and Jenner sent a warning to his lawyer.
TMZ reported that the artists did not reach out to the sisters for permission to use their images and that their lawyers have gotten in touch with the artist to issue a warning. While the two are reportedly supportive of the cause, they believe that they have a say on whether or not their photos could be used. However, the Independent counters the reports, saying that according to Palombo's spokesperson, they "are not aware of any lawyer contact."
Meanwhile, both Kardashian and Jenner continue to make news on social media, as Daily Mail reports that Jenner is the most-liked celebrity on Instagram. A photo that she posted of herself lying on the ground with her hair in heart shapes earned 3.2 million likes since it was published in May.
Kardashian, who is expecting her second baby with her husband, artist Kanye West, published photos of a photoshoot she did before her pregnancy, which was also seen during an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians earlier this year, Mirror reports.
"I have psoriasis, there is nothing I can do about it so there is no reason why I should feel uncomfortable," the 34-year-old reality TV star said at the time. "So to make myself feel better I lay out all my insecurities before we start a shoot in the hope that no one will be focused on that. I just want to do fun and artsy things."
