'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt' updates, review & gameplay: game beats 'Fallout 4,' 'Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain' for Game of the Year award
CD Projekt Red is ending the year with a loud bang when one of the developer's most popular gaming projects to date went home as winner in the recently concluded 2015 Game Awards, the Entertainment Weekly wrote.
"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" bested the competition, which includes some of the worthy rivals like "Bloodborne," "Fallout 4," "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" and "Super Mario Maker," as it bagged the ultimate honor of Game of the Year.
Apart from being hailed as the overall winner for the season-ending awarding event, "The Witcher 3" also won Best RPG Game, while also helping the cause of the CD Projekt Red when it was named Developer of the Year.
In their review of the video game, BGR lauded the quest aspect of "The Witcher 3" gameplay where, unlike most role-playing games (RPG) available in the market today, the developer also took the time to make sure that they have worked on the strong storyline behind a particular mission.
Although, the game still involves quests for the characters that involve the typical manhunt for a certain villain, the background story and other interesting plot that could be uncovered upon completion of what appeared to be just another mere bloody pursuit make for an interesting twist.
The other strong suits for "The Witcher 3" is its rich plot and a lineup of intriguing characters that the main protagonist Geralt of Rivia will chance upon along the way and build relationship with, or engage in amorous affairs, as you might call it. The graphics will also impress with the details of the Medieval world where the game is set was beautifully laid out.
As for some updates, a new patch for "The Witcher 3" could find its way into the hands of gamers this December and will be available on all gaming formats, according to a Geek Snack report. While the 1.12 patch may not include any new feature, fans will get the chance to extend their gaming hours with the expected release of the Blood and Wine expansion in 2016.
While the video game is usually listed at around $49 dollars for PS4 and Xbox One, and $59 for PC, be sure to check out some bundle packages and discounts from various retailers. The Retailer Newegg, for instance, lists "The Witcher 3" with a 50 percent discount for the three gaming platforms with the use of a promo code.
