The Fullbright Company's first-person interactive storytelling adventure video game "Gone Home," released in 2013 for PC, is now coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 this new year, The Verge reports. After several challenges in coming up with a publishing deal with Majesco, the two companies have finally reached an agreement and the game will be delivered to Xbox One and PS4 this Jan. 12.

"Gone Home" was previously named Polygon's 2013 Game of the Year, and Christopher Grant of Polygon wrote, "the game also tackles teenage coming of age, the discovery of sexuality, childhood abuse and infidelity, and treats them as staples of the American family identity—an identity that many of us share—is all the more unusual."

"That's what makes Gone Home so powerful. It's not unusual; it's ordinary," Grant continued. "That may sound strange, but in an industry dominated by sci-fi and fantasy tropes, violence and an obsession with heroism, it wasn't a floating city in the sky that took our breath away, but rather a trip back home, and the exploration of a single house, seen through the eyes of a stranger."

According to "Gone Home" designer Steve Gaynor, "Ever since Gone Home came out we've wanted to be able to bring it to people who maybe aren't PC gamers, or don't have a good enough computer, or who just want to play in their living room, maybe to share the experience with a friend or loved one from the comfort of their couch."

"Our goal wasn't to add or change things, but just to bring the game that players know and love onto consoles in the best possible form we could," he explained.

"Gone Home" follows the story of Kaitlin Greenbriar, a 21-year-old college student who returns home to a mansion in Arbor Hill, Oregon only to find out that her family is missing, and her sister leaving a note telling her not to go look for her. Through Kaitlin's sister Samantha's journal and some clues around the house, she then goes on a journey to find out the truth.

"Gone Home" was awarded the BAFTA Video Game Award for best "Debut Game" in 2013 and was also nominated for "Best Story," PC Gamer reports. It has also been recognized by IGN, USA Today, PASTE, and Spike TV. For more information on the multi-award winning game, log on to gonehomegame.com.
