'Downton Abbey' Season 6 Spoilers, Finale, Release Date, Trailer & Update: What Will Happen at the Last Christmas Special? [VIDEO]
With the end coming for "Downton Abbey" next year, the show's Christmas Special is expected to tie up some loose ends. Watch the trailer for the final Christmas Special below:
The trailer hints that there will be a character who will be leaving and some coming back. Thomas Barrow (played by Rob James-Collier) will be leaving his job at Downton and George (Oliver/Zac Barker) begs him not to go. The trailer also reveals that there will be changes in Downton Abbey.
"I hope you're not too unhappy about the way things have turned out..." Robert (played Hugh Bonneville) tells Mr. Carson (played by Jim Carter) and he replies, "The world is a different place to the way it was, my Lord, and Downton must change with it."
We also see Lady Mary (played by Michelle Dockery) bidding goodbye to someone in the video. The trailer also reveals characters who will be coming back such as Tom Branson (played by Allen Leech) and Lady Rose (played by Lily James) who is seen kissing her husband, Atticus Aldridge.
According to Movie Pilot, Bertie Pelham (played by Harry Hadden-Paton) will be coming back and hopefully to have a happy reunion with Lady Edith (played by Laura Carmichael).
The final episode of "Downton Abbey" will show on Christmas Day at 8:45 pm on ITV. The season 6 premiere will air on Jan. 3, 2016, on PBS, while the Christmas Special will air on March 6 on PBS.
According to the International Business Times, season 6 will feature "the talk" between two prominent characters, Mrs. Hughes (played by Phyllis Logan) and Mr. Carson before they get married.
"As we launch into Season 6, there are the delicate negotiations about what is going to happen when we go up those stairs to bed," said Carter to Wall Street Journal Video.
However, the two won't directly communicate as Mrs. Patmore (played by Lesley Nicol) will step in to help them talk.
"It's done with a great deal of humor, but very touchingly," said Logan. "To again not give too much away, obviously it's a conversation that Mrs. Hughes feels she couldn't personally have with Mr. Carson, but she's engaged the help of Mrs. Patmore, the cook."
The butler and housekeeper have taken all five seasons to become engaged, but it isn't guaranteed that the two will get their happy ever after.
"I can't really reveal it," Logan teasingly told Parade. "But I feel that there's potential certainly. Great potential -- if only he would, you know, buckle under."
