LG G5 vs LG V10 Rumors: South Korean Company to Unveil Two Flagships For 2016? [Specs, Price, Release Date, Review]
The Korean tech giant LG tried to get a step ahead of the competition by coming up with what they dubbed as purposeful innovation through its world's first curved, flexible smartphone, the LG G Flex. While the original G Flex had some decent reception, the iteration came up short of expectations.
And, now, the company is rumored to be working on a new business strategy moving forward, but is not taking the G Flex along with it, according to an information from the South Korean newspaper Munhwa Ilbo posted on Daum, a local web portal, Digital Trends wrote.
The report said that LG might opt for a shakeup in its mobile device lineup ditching the G Flex and concentrating on the two flagship phones, the G5 and V10. It is not confirmed, however, if the LG G Flex 2 would be the last of its kind that we'll ever see.
Another likely change looming in the horizon could let consumers see an earlier release date for the LG G5. While the LG G3 was unveiled on May 28, 2014, and the G4 on April 28 of 2015, the G5 may come as early as the first quarter of 2016, according to Android Headlines.
"The advance in the schedule may have several reasons, including Samsung itself since the giant rival usually releases their flagship phones during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) on early March. The source throws a guess that the device may be unveiled during the MWC 2016, but again, this is just a guess," the report says.
It is, still, all speculations when it comes to the specs for the G5. But, some probable guestimates considered, the LG device could be sporting the next major flagship processor from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 820, with at least 3 GB of RAM with a higher chance that it could go up to at least 4 GB. The G4 internal memory comes at a base of 32 GB, so it is likely that the G5 won't go any lower than that. LG fans should also expect a 4000 mAh battery capacity and an upgrade to 20MP rear and 10MP front camera.
The display is rumored to be 5.6-in. True HD IPS display with a flexible touchscreen and a resolution of 3840 x 2160 suggesting a 4K display, says a review from KnowYourMobile. The G5 is also expected to be built with a unibody metal frame. Previous reports have also mentioned about the inclusion of an eye-scanning technology and LG's own mobile payment platform.
As for the LG V10, some of the specs and features include a 6-core, 1.8 GHz, Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory. It has a battery capacity of 3000 mAh and also comes with a 16MP rear camera with F1.8 aperture. The display consists of a 5.7-inch screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels, according to PhoneArena.
The price for the LG V10 comes at around $600 to $700 while the LG G5 could be expected in the $1,000 range.
