There is no doubt that many fans are looking forward to playing the next installment of the "Half Life" franchise. Unfortunately, at the time, Valve remains non-committal whether the title is in development or not. Gamers are left in the dark, hoping that "Half Life 3" will soon see the light of day.

"Half Life 3" continues to make headlines, but nothing has been confirmed yet and everything is just mere speculations. According to Day Herald, there is a new evidence pointing out for the title's potential development.

SteamDB indicates the presence of the game inside Valve's PC game sharing program. The discovery of the game excites fans about "Half Life 3." Unfortunately, the report stressed that the name "Half Life 3" being included as a package name doesn't confirm anything.

Steam addressed the said issue in a post on their blog saying, "While this information comes straight from Valve and many of these kinds of leaks turned out to be real in the past, it is important to note that third-party Steam developers can create and name their own apps/packages."

Although this report suggests that the Steam database has something named "Half Life 3," it is still not a confirmation whether the game is in the development and is ready for release. It is also possible that it is just a prank.

There are speculations that the failure of "Mass Effect 3" that received a massive backlash and internet harassment could have caused the delay or cancellation of "Half Life 3." The said issue escalated to the point that people working on the title received bomb threats and death threats on a daily basis.

Meanwhile, Parent Herald previously reported that some text files for "Half Life 3" were found in the "Dota 2" update. A file named "hl3.txt" and some other text files, which were thought to be of "Half Life 3", were spotted in the update but to the dismay of many it did not confirm the title's production.

Despite Valve's knowledge that many are anxious for "Half Life 3," the team is not making progress for the game. Per Daily Sun, Gabe Newell, co-founder of Valve, disclosed that the title is not being developed yet and that fans should not expect its arrival soon.

Well, if Valve is not interested to give in to their fans’ demands for “Half Life 3,” somebody else wants. Naughty Dog creative director Neil Druckmann posted a Tweet last September calling the attention of Valve to give them the license for "Half Life 3."

“Look, Valve, all I'm saying is you give us the Half Life license and we'll take care of the rest,” Druckmann wrote.
