'Red Dead Redemption 2' Release Date & Spoilers: Rockstar CEO Confirms RDR2 Franchise; Gameplay Map Expands to Cover Eastern USA [Rumors]
When "Red Dead Redemption" came out, it was such an instant hit that people were wondering if the game developer will ever release a sequel. People may not have to wait no more as Straus Zelnick, the co-founder of Rockstar, announced that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will definitely be released. This latest development would answer many people's questions, whether the game will ever become a franchise or not.
The Rockstar CEO hinted in an interview with VG347 that the company will make "Red Dead Redemption" as a permanent franchise.
"We've launched one new successful franchise every year and I would like to keep doing that particularly because I talk about permanent franchises, but not everything is going to be a permanent franchise," Zelnick stated.
Crossmap added that he knows the games that deserve to be permanent, which he mentioned including "Red Dead Redemption." "It's obvious that 'GTA' is a permanent franchise as long as we keep delivering this incredible quality; it seems quite obvious that 'Red Dead' is a permanent franchise, again with the same caveat, or 'Borderlands,' for example, and 'NBA' and others."
Meanwhile, a former Rockstar employee is said to have leaked a few information about the game's sequel. A certain AnonDN1978, an alleged Rockstar ex-employee, posted on reddit that there will be new characters and John Marston will no longer be in the second installment.
Apparently, the ex-employee with a user name AnonDN1978 decided to leak information about the game because of his or her feud with the former employer. AnonDN1978 did not elaborate if it was Zelnick, the CEO, he had a beefed with. With the current development of the next installment, there has been no formal announcement from the game developer yet about the game. Nevertheless, AnonDN1978 has already released the title of the game's sequel as "Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West."
Meanwhile, reports from Crossmap stated that there will be a huge map expansion on "Red Dead Redemption 2." Although Rockstar did not name the states that will be added to the next installment, many speculated that players will not only see many parts of the West but a few states from the East will also be included. If the speculations will turn out to be correct, gamers would most likely be glued to their seats playing the game once it comes out.
Nevertheless, some information will stay as rumors until the company itself provides a definite statement.
