Most people love and enjoy eating. Unfortunately, indulging in this pleasure is unhealthy as it can make one gain weight, which may result in several illnesses. Overweight or obese individuals know that shedding the extra pounds is a struggle, but it is possible. Take it from Sonya Jones.
Jones is a Physical Education teacher and has been overweight her whole life, per NBC. She joined the reality show "The Biggest Loser" and is now enjoying the weight she has been dreaming of, from 283 pounds she is now down to 139 pounds. She joined the show "to lose weight, get healthy and feel good about herself."

- Understand the root of your weight issues - This includes examining how you feel about yourself and your looks. You also need to understand your emotional connection with food.

- Cook your food - You will have more control in your diet if you prepare it yourself. Avoid eating at restaurants and fast food chains and stick to homemade meals.
- Examine the menu - You can't always say "no" to dining out. If you have to eat out with friends or family, preview the menu before going to the restaurant and make a smart choice on what you should order.
- Work out four times a week for 44 minutes - Aim for this workout routine. This target is feasible than pushing yourself to workout every day and be disheartened for missing your target.
- Skid fried food - Most, if not all, enjoy fried foods. Unfortunately, when food is dipped in oil it is filled with calories and artery-clogging fat. So for a successful weight loss, get rid of these types of foods.
- Remind yourself why you want to lose weight - Sometimes keeping yourself on track on your weight loss journey can be challenging. Just remember why you decided to get healthy and you will be motivated.
- Eat eggs - Eggs are versatile and should be a mainstay in your kitchen. Eggs are filled with nutrients like choline and protein to aid lean muscle growth and accelerate fat loss.
- Go green - Stock your fridge with leafy vegetables. They are low calorie and are rich in fiber that will make you feel full. Also, you can eat them raw or cook.
