Based on the Countdown site, gamers will be treated to 17 days of massively discounted games designed for the Xbox One and 360 consoles. Major Nelson has provided a detailed list of games included in the grand sale.
According to the source, the first set of deals will be offered between Dec. 22 and 28. From the 22nd until the end of the month, Countdown will also feature a series of Daily Deals, encouraging gamers to check the site regularly.
The second round of deals and discounts will be launched from Dec. 29 up until Jan. 7, 2016. Xbox Live Gold members get an even better treat as account holders will get an additional 10 percent discount on titles.
Recently released games such as "Halo 5: Guardians" and "Rise of the Tomb Raider" are also included in the sale. However, the discounts are not as massive as with older titles.
Discounts for "Halo 5: Guardians" are pegged at 10 percent for regular gamers while Xbox Live Gold members get 20 percent off. Gamers can get a better deal with "Rise of the Tomb Raider" as the price has been slashed by 25 percent to 33 percent.
The Countdown sale is not limited to games. Microsoft is also offering a series of deals on their Xbox One consoles.
Until Dec. 26, gamers can opt to buy a console at $299 from the Microsoft Store, Best Buy, GameStop or Target. Buy the 500GB Xbox One White Gears of War Bundle from Walmart for under $300 and you also get a copy of the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition and access to the beta version for Gears of War 4.
Check out the Collections section to avail of deals on movies, TV seasons, and movie and TV bundles.
Microsoft's Countdown comes on the same day as the Steam Winter Sale. From Dec. 22 to Jan. 4, the site will offer deals on almost 10,000 different games.
Included in Steam's sale are popular titles such as "Fallout 4," "Metal Gear Solid V," and "Grand Theft Auto V."
PC World says what makes the Steam sale well known is that the same discounts are offered throughout the sale period. There are no time-limited sales similar to those featured on the Xbox website.
