Weight Loss Tips by Lorraine Kelly: Secret to Keeping the Pounds Off
Fitness is for all ages—just look at TV personality Lorraine Kelly, who maintains her toned body through regular exercise. In fact, Mirror reports that the 56-year-old has released a fitness DVD for women of all ages, aptly titled "Living To The Max." The "Daybreak" and "Lorraine" host collaborated with fitness trainer Maxine Jones for the DVD. She also credits her weight loss to the trainer.
"Max’s classes are just so much fun," Kelly gushes. "She uses some cracking tunes, like [Maroon 5’s] 'Moves Like Jagger', so you don’t feel like you’re working out—it’s like being at a disco!"
Trainers and fitness gurus often advise participating in workouts that are enjoyable and fun, first to take off the pressure of actually working out and secondly, to keep a person committed.
The host admitted, "I was always looking for a type of exercise I could just enjoy, because when I was doing my marathon training, I absolutely hated it; I’d be kicking and screaming the whole way, getting up early in winter to do it when it was utterly miserable outside."
"I bless the day I found Maxine just round the corner from my flat in a church hall," Kelly told ITV in November. "Her classes have changed my life. I always look forward to the classes—the energy, the enthusiasm and the music are all brilliant and that's down to Maxine."
Kelly and Jones were then inspired to create a fitness DVD thanks to the comments they received on social media. Kelly shared, "I used to post all these sweaty selfies at the end of my sessions, and I’d get messages from women saying things like, 'It looks like you’re having the best time, how can we share in it?' The power of social media! So we decided to make something any woman could join in with."
The host admitted that her hard work with Jones continues to pay off, as she has noticed the difference in her body, saying, "I’ve got a really pert bottom now! And I’ve got a waist; it goes in, instead of the middle-aged spread that was there a few years ago."
"My arms have never looked so toned," she confessed. "In fact, I’ve never looked or felt better in my life – better even than when I was in my twenties. I can wear the clothes I want to wear without covering up all the time."
Daily Record reports that according to Kelly, "You want your life to be as fulfilling and happy as it can be; women nowadays are in their prime in their 50s, 60s, even 70s, and we’ve got so many great role models, like Helen Mirren, Jerry Hall, or Julianne Moore."
