As part of Microsoft's yearly update on Xbox Wire, the gaming console company announced a list of games to look forward to in 2016. One of them includes the release of the multiplayer mode for "Crackdown 3" during the summer.

Watch the game's official trailer here:

GameRanx believes the release of the multiplayer first is due to the system's use of Microsoft's Azure cloud servers.

A theory put forward by Games Radar involves Dave Jones, the game developer behind "Crackdown 3." Cloudgine, his newly established studio, specializes in creating games for the cloud.

The multiplayer version of the game is more along the alley of Jones' new studio. Utilizing Azure technology will offer players access to an entirely different environment, where they can run freely through the streets and ride "transforming vehicles," as described on Crackdown's webpage on the Xbox site.

It is an environment that be completely destroyed if the players wish to do so.

This cloud environment, Games Radar says, is designed to interact with the players more and places less emphasis on storyline. On the other hand, the gaming publication believes the single-player mode follows the style of earlier versions of the game where players will get to learn more about what happens to the characters.

As such, the single-player game mode is expected to require more hours in developing a believable plot, designing non-playable characters and similar aspects.

There is currently no additional information regarding the game's single player mode. On Twitter, Xbox head Phil Spencer had also been mum on giving details.

A user recently asked if the multiplayer version was being shipped as a separate game from the single player mode. According to Spencer, "We will have more info coming."

Since Gamescom 2015, no new trailers have been released. The last detailed gameplay was revealed through IGN's interview on YouTube with Dave Jones.

It appears that Crackdown will not be the first game where the multiplayer mode is released before the single player version. As listed on the Xbox website, the multiplayer beta version of "Gears of War 4" will be released in Spring 2016.

The official launch for "Gears of War 4" is slated for Fall of the same year.
