5 Healthy Low-Cal Cocktail Recipes
While Adam decided to go wholesome with his ale, the ladies prefer cocktails as their go-to beverage. Some women would love to unwind and party the night away with their choice cocktails without them realizing that those drinks are filled with calories they so ultimately loathe.
We have listed some of the healthy and low-cal cocktail recipes that won't give both men and women the guilt so it won't feel like they are committing another original sin yet again.
Skinny Arnold Palmer (Skinny Iced Tea)
This recipe is perfect for those who can't get enough of their tea. Now, you could have your tea time on a Friday evening. The Skinny Arnold Palmer recipe is courtesy of Health.com. The ingredients: one shot Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka, sugar-free lemonade (Minute Maid Light or Crystal Light), lemon wedge for garnish.
You just have to fill a glass with ice and, then, add one shot of Firefly and light lemonade. Garnish it with lemon wedge. This cocktail only contains about 70 calories.
Creamy Pineapple
This cocktail is from Kim Haasarud who is a liquid architecture for Omni Hotels. Cosmopolitan listed the recipe on its site and the ingredients are 1 and a half oz. of Bacardi, three-quarters of caramelized pineapple concentrate puree, and half oz. each of lemon juice, pineapple juice and agave nectar.
Combine all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with and you can add grilled pineapple wedge for garnish afterwards.
Mimosa Lite
Brunchtime cocktails need not contain a lot of calories, according to Andrea Giancoli, RD, spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association. In her cocktail recipe, she makes use of low-calorie fruit juices, such as Minute Maid Light, which contain half the calories of regular juice.
You'll need 2 ounces of Minute Maid Light Orange Tangerine Juice, juice of 1/2 medium-size orange (or 1 to 2 ounces) and 4 ounces of champagne for this one. Just add several ice cubes to a tall glass. Squeeze the juice of the orange into the glass. Pour in orange tangerine juice, followed by champagne. Stir. Garnish with fresh orange rinds, curled, says Fitness Magazine. Calorie count: 120
Blueberry Lemon Breeze
"In this drink... fresh berries and lemon juice blend harmoniously with the flavors in the gin. But what makes this cocktail so special is the champagne that's poured on top!" says Stephanie Ruhe, bar manager at Atlanta hot spot Neo.
The ingredients are 10 blueberries, 3/4 ounce light agave nectar, such as Wholesome Sweeteners, available at Whole Foods or other natural foods stores, 1 1/2 ounces gin, 3/4 ounce lemon juice and a splash of champagne (about 1 ounce).
Gingered Pear and Brandy Cocktail
This cocktail recipe from MyRecipes.com makes use of pear juice for a different twist on your cognac. You'll need 1/4 cup water, 3 tablespoons sugar, 1/4 cup chopped peeled fresh ginger, 3 cups pear juice, 1 cup cognac and 10 lemon rind twists.
