Dr. Oz On Rob Kardashian's Diabetes: Work On Self-Esteem, Urges Kardashians To Push Rob to Do Weight Loss Programs
Most celebrities are fit, perhaps, because their work requires them good looks and energy to survive their demanding schedules. However, not all celebrities are healthy; some of them are also struggling with illnesses. Just take it from Rob Kardashian.
According to Entertainment Tonight, the 28-year-old reality star was hospitalized last month for not feeling well. Later on, he was diagnosed with diabetes. According to some sources, Rob had been warned before of his possibility to develop the said disease.
"He's very overweight and hasn't been working out," one source said. "The diabetes diagnoses come as no surprise. He has been warned about this for years, and never did anything to prevent it."
The source added that the "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" clan is worried about his health, especially that he is living on his own. Rob used to live with his older sister Khloe Kardashian but he has moved into his own condominium in a gated community in Calabasas, Calif.
Dr. Oz expressed his concern about Rob's diabetes complications. "I feel bad that Rob Kardashian was rushed to the emergency room with complications from diabetes," the medical professional told Us Weekly.
Dr. Oz stressed that diabetes can be deadly. He even likened it to having broken pieces of glass in one's body that scrape the delicate lining of one's arteries. "It's devastating, catastrophic, if you don't address it," he added.
The health and fitness guru also revealed that Rob's issue is more psychological that health-related. He shared that that he invited 100 people in his studio who have all lost a whopping 100 pounds and asked them how they did it. The TV personality thought that he would be getting 100 different answers but all of the individuals share the same response: "self-esteem."
The medical expert explained how changing one's perspective changes one's body. "They all realized that when they appreciated that they were worth it, losing the weight became easy. When your best friend is doing something to themselves that hurts them, you tell them," Dr. Oz said. "What do you tell them? Whatever you tell that person, you tell yourself. And that's my advice to Rob."
Dr. Oz is encouraging the Kardashians to encourage Rob to undergo health programs by setting up an example. The Kardashian girls are all fitness buff, so they can invite their brother to join them on their health programs.
"That way you are leading by example - not finger pointing. Because we are all different and we all fixate on our flaws," he added.
E! Online reported that Khloe has started encouraging Rob to lose weight.
