'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' Plot Details Revealed – First Details Here!
"Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens" may still be showing in movie theaters but that has not stopped fans of the film from turning "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" into one of the most highly anticipated movies for 2016, says movie ticketing site Fandango. Much of the information out there has not been verified but we have a few details to get you excited for the upcoming spin-off.
One bit of information that has been confirmed is that of the story. According to Movie Pilot, the plot revolves around a group from the Rebel Alliance who will try to steal the plans of the Death Star.
This might pose a problem to those who have enjoyed "The Force Awakens" as The Hollywood Reporter says "Rogue One" will take audiences back to events that occurred between Episode III and IV. Disney is taking a risk by backtracking to an earlier story and showing it right after the highly successful Episode VII.
The source says that based on the plot surrounding "A New Hope," the Rebel group succeeds, or lays the foundation for another group to succeed.
Rumors from Making Star Wars reveal that Mads Mikkelsen will have a lot of influence in how 'Rogue One' will play out. Mikkelsen's character, Galen, was initially portrayed as a villain in the Star Wars movies.
Galen is a scientist who helped modify and enhance the Death Star. As with other Star Wars movies, seeing the chaos he has caused may have encouraged this former bad guy to turn into a good guy, helping his daughter smuggle the plans to the rebels.
The source indicates that the daughter might be played by Felicity Jones. There is much speculation as to whether the character would be a bounty hunter or, like her father, a scientist being helped by a group of bounty hunters.
According to Den of Geek, Darth Vader is also expected to make an appearance. He may not be the main antagonist in the upcoming spinoff but he is believed to have a major impact on the story as well.
When it comes to the trailer, rumors still indicate that it will be shown on the same day as "Captain America: Civil War," which hits movie theaters on May 6, 2016. Slash Film believes that a teaser will be released much sooner than that.
"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is set for showing in movie houses on Dec. 16, 2016.
