'Once Upon a Time' Season 5 Spoilers: Belle Gets Handsome Gaston -- Who is it?
The "Beauty and the Beast" storyline of the ABC series "Once Upon a Time" is getting a fresh and exciting development as reports about the recasting for the role of Sir Gaston has been confirmed.
"When Gaston makes his grand return to 'Once Upon a Time' this spring, your eyes will not be deceiving you. He will look different from the last time you saw him," wrote E! News. "The ABC fairy-tale mash-up hit has cast Wes Brown as the boorish suitor from Belle's past for an upcoming episode in the second half of season five."
According to a report from Variety, the episode where the new Sir Gaston actor will be appearing has yet to be set, but it will be shown before the ongoing fifth season of the series come to an end, most likely at the latter half. Brown's role will be a big part of the plot involving the part of Belle's life before she met her love interest Rumple.
This will be the second time already that a cast member was replaced by another actor. The Robin Hood character was first portrayed by Tom Ellis who appeared back in season two. He was, apparently, superseded by Sean Maguire, E! news also noted.
For the role of "Sir Gaston," it was originally played by the Vancouver, British Columbia-born Sage Brocklebank. The 37-year-old actor appeared in the "Skin Deep" episode of the first season of "Once Upon A Time." Brocklebank is also known for" his role as Buzz McNab in the TV series "Psych."
The new Sir Gaston actor, on the other hand, was known for his roles in films, such as "We are Marshall" in 2006 and "Love Begins" in 2011. He is also a staple in television with his numerous stint in various TV series like "Hart of Dixie," "90210," "Desperate Housewives," "Scandal," "Private Practice," "NCIS," "Trauma," "Criminal Minds," "CSI: Miami," and "True Blood." He also had a regular appearance in the mystery and drama series "Deception" before it went off the air after only 11 episodes.
The new Gaston will be joining other cast members of the TV series like Emilie de Ravin (Belle), Robert Carlyle (Rumple), Jennifer Morrison (Emma Swan), Lana Parrilla (Regina Mills), Ginnifer Goodwin (Mary Margaret Blanchard), Jared Gilmore (Henry Mills), Josh Dallas (David Nolan), Colin O'Donoghue (Captain Hook) and Sean Maguire (Robin Hood), among others.
