8 Microwaveable Mug Recipes For Busy Days
Microwaves are probably one of the best inventions ever made and most people will probably think that way when busy days come. Why? Because you can make great-tasting food using a microwave and a mug!
Here are eight microwaveable mug recipes you can enjoy during your busy days.
Microwave Chocolate Cake in a Mug
This yummy recipe comes from PopSugar.
Microwave 4 Tbsp butter and 1 oz. chopped chocolate in a large bowl for 1 minute, stirring often. Whisk in a/ 4 cup sugar, two large eggs, 2 Tbsp cocoa, 1 tsp vanilla extract and 1/ 4 tsp salt until smooth.
Combine 1/ 4 cup flour and 1/ 2 tsp baking powder, then whisk into chocolate mixture until mixed, then divide equally into two coffee mugs.
Microwave at 50 percent power for about 45 seconds. Stir batter and repeat microwave process. Press 2 pieces chocolate until top is covered, then microwave again for 35 seconds. Let cool for 2 minutes, then serve.
Peanut Butter and Banana Oatmeal
This is another treat from PopSugar.
Get a banana and mash it inside a mug using a fork until it looks like a “thick, sticky syrup.” Put some peanut butter in, mash, mix and stir until thoroughly mixed.
Get a single-serve pack of instant oatmeal, then stir in the peanut butter-banana mixture until all oats are covered. Microwave for a few minutes then garnish with the topping of your choice.
Avocado Omelet in a Mug

Whisk 2 eggs in a mug, add salt and pepper, and then stir in 2 Tbsps grated cheddar cheese.
Microwave on high for about 1 1/ 2 minutes, or until the eggs are set.
Top with a tablespoon of your choice of salsa, and 1/ 2 avocado, sliced. Serve.
Cheesy 2-Egg Mug Omelet

In a large mug, combine 1 Tbsp unsalted butter, 1 Tbsp chopped scallion, and 1/ 4 tsp herbes de Provence. Microwave for 15 seconds or until the butter has melted.
Add 1 Tbsp milk and 2 large eggs, then whisk until frothy. Stir in a pinch of Kosher salt, a pinch of pepper, and half a cup of grated cheddar cheese. Microwave for another minute or until the egg is firm.
Serve immediately.
In a large mug, mash half a banana into chunks. Add 1 cup softened vanilla ice cream, 1/ 2 self-rising flour and 1 tsp sugar, then thoroughly mix. Sprinkle with 1 Tbsp chocolate chips, and mix gently.
Microwave on high for about 4 1/2 to 5 minutes or until the bread is set. Enjoy while warm.
Microwaveable Blueberry Muffins
In a mug, whisk together 1/ 4 cup flour, 1 Tbsp sugar, and 1/ 8 baking powder. Stir in 3 Tbsp milk and 1 Tbsp coconut oil until smooth. Top with 1/ 4 cup blueberries (may be substituted with other berries if desired).
In a small bowl mix together 1 Tbsp coconut oil, 1 Tbsp flour, and 1 Tbsp sugar. Sprinkle the crumble mixture on top of the blueberries mixture in the mug, then microwave on high for about 90 seconds or until the crust is slightly golden brown and the blueberries are soft. Enjoy!
Fully-Loaded Breakfast Mug Potatoes
Into a large mug, add 4-5 pieces potatoes (quartered) and 1/ 4 cup water, then microwave on high for 6 to 8 minutes or until the potatoes are fork-tender. Drain the water. Add 1/ 2 tsp salt, 1/ 4 pepper and 1/ 4 tsp garlic powder, then stir to coat.
Crumble 2 slices cooked bacon on top of potatoes, then microwave on high for 30 seconds. Top with 1 Tbsp sour cream, cheddar cheese, and diced green onions.
Into a mug, whisk together 1 large egg, 1/ 2 cup milk, 1 1/ 2 Tbsp granulated sugar, 1/ 4 tsp vanilla extract, and 1/ 4 tsp cinnamon. Add 1 1/ 2 cups cinnamon raisin bread cubes and, using a fork, coat them in the egg mixture.
Microwave on high for 2 minutes, or until all of the liquid is absorbed.
Optional: Top with 2 Tbsp maple syrup, powdered sugar, or butter.
