Gwyneth Paltrow Diet 2016: Actress Defends Eating Habits, Says 'I love French fries & cheese'
Gwyneth Paltrow's diet has been the object of much scrutiny and curiosity for many years because of her lifestyle blog, Goop. However, the Hollywood mom said there has been many misinformation about her diet and eating habits and she has come clean with the truth.
Speaking with Yahoo! Beauty, the Oscar-winning actress finally answered speculations that she maintains a strict gluten-free and alkaline diet most days. "I think there's a lot of misinformation about what I actually eat. I really don't have any rules," she stated.
While she tries to stay away from processed foods with "tons of chemicals and pesticides," Gwyneth admitted she actually "loves French fries and cheese and martinis." She tries to keep a balanced diet, which she believes is the key to good nutrition.
Back in 2013, Daily Mail reported that Gwyneth doesn't let her children eat bread, pasta and white rice, thus feeding the "misinformation" that she imposes a regimented diet for herself and the kids, Apple, 11, and Moses, 9. The truth is that, like any regular kid, they're allowed to enjoy Oreos for snacks, along with organic treats.
Gwyneth started learning to make healthy food choices when her father, director Bruce Paltrow, became sick in the 1990s. Paltrow died in 2002 due to oral cancer complications. "He would not engage in the healthy food at all," the actress told Yahoo! Beauty. Since his death, Gwyneth continued to learn more about proper food intake, detoxing and the benefits of whole foods, which sparked a shift in her lifestyle.
To burn the calories from eating French fries and other food indulgences, Gwyneth does rely on her secret weapon: fitness trainer Tracy Anderson. She has been working out with Anderson for 10 years and her current routine involves working with the trainer five days a week.
Gwyneth shared the 15-minute workout she picked up from Anderson on Goop one time. Watch the video below:
Meanwhile, as for the regimented diet she's famous for, Gwyneth actually does this once a year and also shared the full details on her website. The detox diet does entail eliminating a lot of foods and drinks that contain alcohol, added sugar, caffeine, dairy, gluten, red meat, nightshades, shellfish and white rice. She does this for only seven days at the start of the year. "It's a great way to give your digestive system a breather and break bad eating and addiction patterns that probably set in over the holidays," she wrote on her site.
