HTC announced that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be coming the way of HTC One M8 and One M9 in North America. No less than Mo Versi, HTC product manager, confirmed that handset users of these HTC devices can expect the upgrade from different carriers in both the U.S. and Canada starting Monday, Jan. 18.
"Great news for our Sasktel, Rogers, Wind and Videotron HTC One M9 owners," Versi wrote on his Twitter post. "We'll go live on Monday for the Marshmallow OS update."
HTC One M8 users on Sprint was also asking Versi whether they were also into the mix for the 6.0 update, to which the HTC exec gave an affirmative answer. He confirmed that One M8 devices under the carrier can expect the upgrade by the middle of the following week, Techno Buffalo reported.
For the T-mobile One M8 devices, Versi also assured his twitter followers that they are working on it and upgrade could be rolled out by Jan. 25. And, for those asking about HTC One M9 Android 6.0 update on AT&T, Versi said that they also into it and might just take a few more weeks.
Meanwhile, HTC One M8 and One M9 smartphone owners in the UK need not be green with envy as HTC also announced the good news that the new Marshmallow update is headed their way, as well.
"Great news! We'll be rolling out the Marshmallow update for the HTC One M8 over the next 48 hours. One M9 to follow shortly."
According to a report from Android Authority, this upcoming Marshmallow update in the UK is most likely for those with unlocked versions of the two HTC M-series devices. And, those who are under any carrier might just have to wait a little longer for the update to be included in the software bundle.
Back in December of last year, HTC already made a 6.0 Marshmallow update for the unlocked One M9 handsets in the U.S. Some of the features included in the latest update are Doze battery optimizations, Android's new app permissions, Now on Tap Android features and other apps and modifications from HTC itself like the Sense user interface for Marshmallow.
HTC One A9 was the first device from the smartphone maker to receive the Marshmallow update along with other Nexus devices at the start of the last quarter of 2015. And, they are now slowly working on the other devices from its stable starting with the older models, according to a Gotta Be Mobile article.
