'iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus' Release Date, Price & Specs: New iPhone 5SE Leak Confirms Compact Phone -- Photos Here [Rumors]
Pictures of Apple's long-rumoured 4-inch iPhone leaked over the weekend. The smaller iPhone will be allegedly called iPhone 5se and is set to be released sometime in March.
A photo uploaded by One More Thing may give you a glimpse on what the next iPhone may look like, Business Insider reported. As previously stated by Mark Gurman, the smaller iPhone will no longer be called iPhone 6C or iPhone mini. Instead, it will be called iPhone 5se as "SE" stands for "Special Edition," according to Gurman. It also connotes an "enhanced" version of the iPhone 5s.
This new phone reportedly has the internal specs of an iPhone 6 with a 4-inch screen. On the outside, it almost looks similar to the iPhone 5s. However, instead of the metallic sharp edges, it will have the curved glass like similar to the iPhone 6 series.
More so, the iPhone 5se is not a preview of the iPhone 7 as it will mostly retain the design of iPhone 5s. According to Gurman, it will still include a headphone jack.
The iPhone 5se is rumoured to have an 8-megapixel rear camera and 1.2-megapixel front camera systems, the Live Photos feature from iPhone 6s and Apple Pay, according to Gurman. It comes in the same sliver, space gray, gold and rose gold colour varieties similar to the 6s line.
According to Christian Science Monitor, Apple's decision to go back to a smaller iPhone size is seen as a half-step back to an older consumer tech philosophy. With the larger screen popular among its competitors, Apple gives their customers an option to buy a smaller iPhone with updated processors.
"A four-inch iPhone would probably make some users with small hands and even smaller pockets very happy, but there's a reason phones keep getting bigger - they just sell better," wrote Ryan Whitwam for Geek. "Most consumers don't seem to mind using two hands to operate their phone."
This may also mean Apple's gearing towards wearable gadgets, a technology that offers great convenience to its users.
Meanwhile, iPhone-Tricks has created a visual concept on how the iPhone 7 would look like based on the rumoured specs and designs. Highsnobeity reported on the video which highlighted the key features of the iPhone 7 which include borderless OLED display, an integrated Homescreen Button & Touch ID, iOS 10, bigger battery and the absence of a headphone jack.
The latest iPhone is expected to be released September of this year.
