Kim Kardashian Plastic Surgery: Reality Star Went Under the Knife for a More Sculpted Face? [Rumors]

Reality TV star and social media staple Kim Kardashian is a permanent figure in most tabloids and gossip websites, mostly due to her oversharing on her various social media channels and her eventful life in front of the camera. She and the rest of Kardashian clan are constantly barraged and scrutinized with their every move as they hit bars and events and make careers for themselves.

Kardashian has again been placed under the microscope thanks to her sister, Kourtney's photo of herself and Kim. This marks Kardashian's first social media photo since she gave birth to her second child, Saint West last month.

Mirror reports that some cosmetic doctors commented on Kardashian's seemingly enhanced face, saying that she most likely had fillers and injections done to make her face look more sculpted.

"Kim certainly appears to have undergone cosmetic treatments to volumise her lips and cheeks. Her lips appear fuller—suggesting a lip augmentation using dermal fillers—and her cheeks have likely been filled with a volumiser to create a more sculpted look," a cosmetic doctor and injectable expert at IGDP dental in London Dr. Kishan Raichura commented. "Non-surgical injectable treatments are fairly safe and offer predictable results, but the key to subtle results is a gradual increase in usage, rather than large amounts of filler being used in one session. Kim looks great, but she should avoid over use of fillers for a more natural look."

Kardashian, however, took to her Instagram to defend herself, saying that it was all natural (and probably just makeup).

"No I don't do fillers or Botox when pregnant like some tabloids are reporting, you would have to be really sick to endanger your child like that!" Kardashian explained. "Anyone who has been pregnant or gained weight knows your face totally changes! My nose gets bigger, cheeks fuller & my lips swell up."

Cosmetic surgery or plastic surgery is a billion dollar industry in the United States alone. In fact, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reports that Americans have spent over $12 billion on procedures in 2014. As per the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, nose reshaping is number two in the top five cosmetic surgical procedures of 2014, while facelift is number five.

According to BBC, 85% of people who have cosmetic surgery are women. But to what factor should this trend be attributed to? A survey conducted in the U.K. in 2013, a third of 11 to 21 year old females were unhappy with their physical appearance, and more than 25% of them would consider cosmetic surgery.

However, the reason why women are pressured to look better may be attributed both to the media, especially the Internet, where most people are likely to be the harshest at commenting on one's features.
