Ronda Rousey, Travis Browne Engaged: UFC Rep Slams Rumors; Travis Browne's Wife Blasts Couple on Instagram
UFC is denying reports that Ronda Rousey is already engaged to boyfriend and fellow UFC player Travis Browne. The engagement rumors is also not sitting well with Browne's wife, who claims that he remains married to her despite their separation.
Fox Sports reported that Rousey and Browne have only been dating since August 2015. However, when she wore a noticeable ring on her left finger during her hosting gig for Saturday Night Live Jan. 23, rumors started buzzing that she has gotten engaged. Photos of Rousey wearing a rectangular band with sparkling diamonds started popping on the Internet soon enough and some expressed their well-wishes for the pair on social media.
However, reps from UFC immediately reached out to People to deny that the 28-year-old former UFC champ has received and accepted a marriage proposal from her 33-year-old beau. "The ring she was wearing was part of the jewelry for her Saturday Night Live promo," the rep clarified to People.
The Hollywood Life reported that it's not just the fans who assumed Rousey got engaged to Browne because even Browne's estraged wife, Jenna Renee Webb, reacted to the rumors on her Instagram. The fitness instructor blasted the couple by sharing a meme of Rousey with the ring. "I'm pretty sure we're still married. When he hits you across your pretty face don't worry, I'll be right here to say #IToldYouSo," Webb partly wrote in the post.
Bleacher Report cited that Browne was investigated by UFC last year in connection to the domestic abuse case Webb filed against him. The UFC found no conclusive evidence even as Webb apparently posted photos of her bruises on her Instagram last July. The former couple have been separated since June.
Rousey and Browne grew closer to each other especially after her defeat against Holly Holm. In October, Browne officially confirmed their relationship in a guest stint on "The MMA Hour."
"She's my woman and I am her man," Browne told the hosts, per People. However, he said he didn't want to label their relationship as "boyfriend-girlfriend."
