'iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus' Release Date, Price & Specs: iPhone 7 to Look Like iPhone 6; No Major Change Except No Antenna Band, Camera Bump [Rumors]

The iPhone 7 may not look that much different than the iPhone 6 according to several leaks from Macrumors. Apple's next iPhone will remove antenna bands and protruding camera lens, a source explains to Macrumors.

According to a source who has provided reliable information in the past, the iPhone 7 body will appear very similar to the iPhone 6 and 6s designs with two significant exceptions.

The camera on the iPhone 7 is rumoured to sit flush with the device itself. When the iPhone 6 was launched, some users complained about its camera bump saying it was unattractive and even prevented the phone from resting even on a table or desk reports Apple Insider.

The other significant change with the body of the iPhone 7 is the removal of antenna bands across the rear. This will give the flagship phone a cleaner all-metal look on the back. However, Macrumors says the antenna bands will still be there although it will run at the sides and around the top and bottom edges.

Meanwhile, the source was not able to confirm if the device will be thinner compared to the iPhone 6 and 6s, although many speculated on it already. In case that the iPhone 7 will be slimmer than the previous models, it would only be minimal, according to Macrumors. In any case, these latest developments on the iPhone 7 design are already a significant improvement.

Earlier reports by Apple Insider have already hinted on feature changes such as full waterproofing and removal of a 3.5mm headphone jack in favour of Lightning and Bluetooth headphones. Sacrificing the headphone jack will allow Apple to make the new iPhone 7 even thinner, according to speculations.

More so, the iPhone 7 may also feature wireless charging, something that is already common in high-end Android phones. Additionally, iPhone 7 is rumoured to feature dual camera technology. DigiTimes reports that Apple is testing a new dual-lens system for the rear camera.

According to their sources from the upstream supply chain, Taiwan-based Largan Technology together with Japan and China-based camera lens makers are rumoured to send dual camera samples to Apple for testing.

Many China-based smartphone companies such as Lenovo, ZTE, Huawei and Qiku have already adopted the dual-lens cameras for the phones.

There are no words when iPhone 7 will be launched. It is highly possible that it will be launched on the usual September timeframe, according to speculations.
