'Apple Watch 2' Release, Price & Deals: Second Gen Smartwatch on the Way? Curry PC World Discounts Apple Watch [Rumors]
New rumors suggest that the next-gen Apple Watch 2 will be arriving soon. A third-party retailer is giving away huge discounts for Apple Watch, are they doing this to pave the way for the new ones?
According to Trusted Reviews, Apple is good at keeping things under wraps especially about their new products. However, their plans might be divulged in no time.
Curry PC World is giving away £50 and £120 off to all various Apple Watch models. The discount comes just months after the British retailer acquired the retail rights to the device. This move fuels the rumors that, indeed, Apple Watch 2 is close to its arrival date.
Ashley Norris was the first one to tweet about the unbelievable and amazing discount.
Although the discount is a good hint that Apple Watch 2 is coming over, no one can confirm. It is also possible that Curry PC World's discount is just a standard sale and has nothing to do with Apple Watch 2's release date.
Meanwhile, there are speculations that Apple will finally release Apple Watch 2 on March 15, International Business Times reported. Aside from the smartwatch, the tech giant will also be launching a 4-inch display clad iPhone 5se, also known as iPhone 6c, along with iPad Air 3.
So, what can fans expect in the upcoming smartwatch?
Per Business Insider, Apple Watch 2 will arrive with "incremental upgrade." This means that it will be packed with design changes and possibly new features.
Among the expected features for Apple Watch 2 is FaceTime camera and a built-in WiFi connectivity, Phone Arena reported. Meanwhile, it is reported that it would get specifications upgrade in the form of a powerful processor and bigger battery. There are rumors that it will follow the pattern of Apple iPhone S models, where the design remains the same but the configuration is different.
Piper Jaffray, Gene Munster analyst expects Apple Watch 2 to sport new internal components, an upgraded processor and battery. "Apple Watch: expect more of an "S" version with similar design, upgraded components including processor[,] battery, new band styles. Unlikely to have a wireless radio, which would allow standalone (i.e. decoupled from iPhone)," he wrote.
Meanwhile, 9ToMac reported that the March update for Apple Watch would feature new bands and software. However, there will be no new hardware or upgraded processor. A full second-generation redesign of Apple Watch is tracking for a September announcement.
The rumors mills are also reporting that Apple will be skipping their annual March event and will be launching Apple Watch 2 in autumn instead.
