'Fifty Shades Darker' Trailer & Cast News: Sequel to Begin Filming in Paris as a Show of Support Following November Attacks
"Fifty Shades Darker," the sequel to the hit sexy film "Fifty Shades of Grey," has been continuously under the radar as the highly anticipated film begins its shooting. Now, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that "Fifty Shades Darker" will fly to the City of Love to film for a few days despite the Paris attacks in November last year.
According to the news outlet, "Fifty Shades Darker" is only one of the many films that are scheduled to film in Paris after the city experienced a decrease in the number of film shootings due to the Paris attacks. Stephane Martinet, deputy director of the Ile-de-France Film Commission, told the publication that these films have contributed to the rebound of the film industry in Paris.
“It seems there is some sort of resilience among the film industry. Producers, in particular from the U.S., voiced their support to us after the attacks and reinforced their willingness to pursue their projects. They want to send a message," Martinet said.
He further said that after the Paris attacks, movie shoots were halted for one week but later returned to normal, only with added security for safety.
Martinet also said that Parisians were supportive of the numerous movie shoots in their city. He said that before the incident, Parisians usually complain about the hassle in parking and noise from the film shoots. However, after the attack, no complaints were heard from the locals. "Everybody wants to be a part of this and knows how important it is to the city to sustain our film industry," he explained.
Meanwhile, "Fifty Shades Darker,” which stars Jamie Dornan (Christian Grey) and Dakota Johnson (Anastasia Steele), will likely be filming in Paris within the first half of the year for several days.
International Business Times reports that "Fifty Shades Darker" is currently filming in Vancouver, Canada. E.L. James, the author of the erotic trilogy where the "Fifty Shades" movies are based, recently hyped fans' excitement when she posted a photo of her arrival in Vancouver.
The photo posted on Instagram signals that the much-anticipated "Fifty Shades Darker" will soon be coming to reality. The photo showed the Vancouver skyline, which James simply captioned, "Hello Vancouver."
In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, Johnson expressed her excitement for "Fifty Shades Darker," saying, "I think it’s going to be exciting and interesting to go back and develop characters further. The story is sort of like a thriller now, and it gets kinda scary, and it’s awesome.”
