Sony OLED TVs Rumored For 2017: Price, Release Date Revealed
The upsurge of OLED TVs has pushed Sony to make use of the OLED technology to deliver impeccable products. After almost a decade of wait, the rumors are that Sony will launch its own line of OLED TVs.
Back in 2008, Sony unveiled its 11" OLED TV with a price tag of $2,500. The rumors mill have something to say about Sony OLED TVs. After a long time of less than a decade, Sony is about to release its OLED TVs lineup starting with a price tag of $2,000.
According to sources, Sony will release two screen size variants that are 55" and 65". In order to keep products at an inexpensive rate to increase sales, the Sony OLED TV 55" will cost $2,000 and the Sony OLED TV 65" will cost only $3,000. Expect Sony to release the OLED TVs in the second half of 2017. CNET came up with reports tracing the manufacturer for OLED TVs which is found to be none other than LG Display.
LG Display is dominating the OLED TVs market ever since it unveiled OLEDs and currently dominates U.S. market whereas its archrivals Philips and Panasonic are selling their OLED TVs in Europe. Forbes released a report with the statement delivered by OLED Association which has Samsung and LG as its members stating the intentions of Sony to unveil OLED TVs in 2017.
OLED is an acronym for Organic Light-emitting Diode which provides much better picture quality than LED LCDs. The OLED screen provides infinite contrast and wide viewing angles that eliminate distortion. Sony is one of the major TV maker selling LCD-based televisions. The OLED TVs feature 4K-resolution picture quality that has its own advantages.
The Sony OLED TVs 2017 prices are reportedly being kept at inexpensive rates compared to LG models OLED65B6P and OLED55B6P which are currently being sold at $2,300 and $3,300 respectively. At this point of time, the release date for Sony OLED TVs is said to be at the CES Show in Las Vegas in January and then sales will begin in the second half of 2017, quoted by FlatpanelsHD.
