Carrie Fisher suffers heart attack, spends Christmas in ICU
It was a sad Christmas for "Star Wars" actress Carrie Fisher, who was spending the festive day in the intensive care at UCLA Medical Center. The actress suffered a cardiac arrest while flying from London to Los Angeles, a couple of days back.
Fisher's mother, entertainer Debbie Reynolds confirmed on her Twitter account that her daughter is stable. "If there is a change, we will share it. For all her fans & friends, I thank you for your prayers & good wishes," Reynolds tweeted.
According to LaTimes, the 60-year-old actress complained of chest pain during her 11-hour flight journey from London. She was rushed to the hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics after the flight touched down at LAX.
Passengers performed CPR on the 60-year-old after she went into cardiac arrest on the United Airlines flight yesterday, Mirror UK quoted.
Actress Anna Akana was also on board and described the incident in a series of tweets. "Don't know how else to process this but Carrie Fisher stopped breathing on the flight home. Hope she's gonna be OK." "So many thanks to the United flight crew who jumped into action, and the awesome doctor and nurse passengers who helped," she wrote.
According to the Los Angeles Airport Police, the flights pilot reported the control tower that fellow passengers who were nurses were attending Fisher. On arrival, the paramedics performed CPR on the victim.
