Elite Dangerous to Add a Carrie Fisher Memorial in Next Update
Following the tragic death of Hollywood actress Carrie Fisher this week, some "Elite: Dangerous" players has requested a memorial for the "Star Wars" legend.
Players and developers are still mourning devastated by the death of writer, actress and activist. The gamers of FPS Elite Dangerous have used the game's official forum to ask that a sought of tribute to the actress be added to the game
The request was heard, and is being granted as executive producer Michael Brookes quickly confirmed the addition on the forums: "Sad news indeed - a Fisher's rest outpost will be added to the game in the 2.3 release," according to DualShockers.
However, this would not be the first time that the "Elite: Dangerous" has memorialized a star. The developer Frontier created a Vulcan planet and a Leonard Nimoy Station in honor of the late Star Trek actor in 2015.
The players in the Elite Dangerous forum are not the only ones asking for a sort of memorial for the Actress. "Star Wars: The Old Republic" players are also seeking for a tribute to Fisher in the game in form of a statue. But PC Gamer points out, that might not work as the Old Republic is set thousands of years before Leia Organa was born.
According to Gamezone, the Old Republic players also gathered to celebrate Fisher's life on the game's version of Alderaan as well as fan-made characters created to look just like the late actress.
Carrie Fisher died on the morning of December 27, at the age of 60 years. She suffered a heart attack on December 23, in a London to LA flight. Artists and friends have mourned the late actress and these is likely not the last game that will seek for a commemoration.
The Elite Dangerous 2.3 update is slated for release sometime next year.
