Miraculous Invention To Cure Tumor: Experimental Drug Provides The Evidence
Say goodbye to the tumor, be free from the phobia. An experimental drug has proved its success to treat tumors. Selumentinib is the name of the new oral medication, which can treat tumor successfully.
According to New England Journal of Medicine, very recent medical research has proved that an experimental drug, Selumentinib can successfully treat tumors, neurofibromatosis type 1(NF1). The discovery brings a major breakthrough.
A huge number of people are the victim of this health problem. Even some acquire the phobia that tumor means a source of cancer. But this wrong conception is cleared by the recent medical research.
If diagnose properly, then tumors can be treated completely. Tumors can be grown in any parts of the body. U.S. National Library of Medicine unveils that Neurofibromatosis type 1 can produce tumors. These tumors can grow in nerves, skin even in the brain.
Most of the times, these tumors are grown in peripheral nerves, which are called plexiform neurofibromas. Dr. Brigitte Widemann, Chief of pediatric oncology of the Center for Cancer Research of the U.S. National Cancer Institute, have admitted that these are non-cancerous tumors.
Dr. Widemann reveals that these tumors can grow anywhere in the body and they can cause severe pain with other problems. A huge number of babies are the victim of this problem.
These tumors ( Neurofibromatosis type 1) can affect one in every 3000 people. 20 to 50 percent people suffering from this can be a victim of plexiform neurofibromas, which can affect the power of vision and the nerves of the arms, legs, and many other portions.
For some people, it can be a genetic disorder and can be a part of this problem from childhood. Currently, these tumors can be treated without surgery. Several times the tumors are grown wrapping the blood vessels and surgery can't solve this problem.
Dr. Widemann and her colleagues have opined that Selumentinib can be very useful to treat plexiform neurofibromas. They have already performed clinical trials. The result is very satisfactory.
The aftermath of phase 1 clinical trial:
In the first phase, 24 children were given the oral drug twice on a regular basis. This treatment cycle lasts for 30 months. The result is a great breakthrough. The drug forced the "tumors to shrink 20 percent and as much as 50 percent in 17 of the 24 children".
According to Dr. Widemann, a major breakthrough was acquired while treating a girl, who had a large tumor in her hip and buttock. The drug miraculously forced the tumor to shrink 50 percent.
Previously the girl was in the wheelchair, even she experienced severe pain. But now after the treatment, she can walk a good distance. She doesn't swallow painkiller anymore to get rid of the pain.
Another patient who previously can't lift her hand due to a tumor can raise her hand easily after taking the drug. The drug has played a great role to bring good and effective result.
The research for the first phase began in 2011 and the story of success is huge. Dr. Widemann confirms that recently Phase 2 clinical trials have started "to confirm the safety and effectiveness of the drug".
Famous Dr. Krzysztof Misiukiewicz has opined that a good number of patients had a response, so to get more successful results more study is necessary. Selumentinib truly plays a great role in treating tumors.
The U.S. National Cancer Institute has funded the study and famous drug maker AstraZeneca has supplied the medicine and "performed some blood analysis". Now it is the time to treat tumor properly with this new discovery of medical science.
