Shocking: Fox News Anchor Megyn Kelly Joins Rival Network NBC
Internet and the global media is buzzing with the news of Megyn Kelly, the famous 46 year old Fox News switching over to its arch rival network NBC. Kelly joined Fox News in 2004 and has been hosting the most popular programs for the last few years.
According to New York Times Kelly will be looking at a new challenges and she will be facing new audience for a proposed daily daytime show and a news magazine program on Sunday. Rupert Murdoch the owner of Fox News's parent company 21st Century Fox has been all praises for Kelly throughout her career. Murdoch even offered Kelly a staggering remuneration of $20 million a year to continue but the offer failed to hold her Back.
The main reason cited for Kelly's exit is time. She wanted to devote more time to her family and she was looking for a change in her hectic schedule. Her three growing up children were her top priority. She made it clear that her decision was more to do with time than money.
In 2014 Megyn Kelly was included in Time magazine's most influential 100 people's list. Her incisive and in depth analysis of the political issues engaged and enlightened her viewers who quickly turned into avid followers. She constantly challenged Donald Trump through her political commentary during the election campaign. In fact Fox news will be losing out on a credible female host for their prime time telecast schedule after Kelly's departure.
According to Fox News Megyn Kelly has been all praises for the chance given by Fox News to become what she is today. "I have grown up here and been given every chance a young reporter could ever ask for," she said in an emotional note. She appreciated Rupert Murdoch's family for their kindness toward her. This Friday will be her last as a Fox presenter.
NBC Universal Chairman Andrew Lack seemed confident of Kelly "Megyn is an exceptional journalist and news anchor, who has had an extraordinary career" said Lack adding "She's demonstrated tremendous skill and poise, and we're lucky to have her."
Megyn Kelly was awarded for her coverage on child abuse by Childhelp organization in 2009. She also appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair in February 2016. She is undoubtedly an incredible anchor and Fox's loss is definitely NBC's gain.
