Face-Off: Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) Vs Samsung Galaxy S7

Samsung Galaxy S7 vs Galaxy A5 (2016) is a bang-on face-off as both the lineups are premium products by the North Korean Tech Company. Super AMOLED Display can be found on both devices, however, Where Galaxy S7 is an high-end phone with a high price, the Galaxy A5 is an alternative with a mid-range price tag and if being factually correct, it is the half of what Galaxy S7 is priced.

Design and Display - Both the devices are clad with Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The Galaxy S7 Display specs are 5.1-inch display with 1,440x2,560 pixels with ppi of 577 whereas the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) is a 5.2-inch display with Full-HD resolution at 424 ppi.

Both the smartphones are identically the same when it comes to design, bezel, home button, and side buttons, however, the Galaxy A5 is 0.6mm which is at 7.9mm. According to GSMArena, the Galaxy S7 has an add-on feature of Heart Rate Sensor which lacks in Galaxy A5 (2016) and also the Galaxy S7 has an IP68 water and dust resistant coat which lacks in Galaxy A5 (2016), however, Samsung has left no stone unturned when it recently unveil the all-new Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) with IP68 Protection.

Performance and Memory - The Geekbench stats for Multi-core processor score for Galaxy A5 (2016) is 3,061 while the Galaxy S7 shows exponentially the double score of 6,360. The Galaxy A5 (2016) comes with Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 and offers Snapdragon 615 or Exynos 7580 Octa SoC with Adreno 405 GPU similar to Galaxy S7 which has the same but upgrade GPU with Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 Octa SoC for which the stats of performance are given above. The Galaxy A5(2016) was introduced with 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM whereas the Galaxy S7 features a 32GB/64GB ROM and 4GB RAM which outruns the former device in any given aspect.

Camera - While the Galaxy A5 (2016) sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with an aperture of f/1.9mm similar to its 2017 iteration, the Galaxy S7 features a 12-megapixel snapper with an aperture of f/1.7 capable of taking 4K videos, GSMArena.

The Verdict - Samsung has managed to pull off certain backlogs of Samsung Galaxy A5(2016) after it recently unveiled the 2017 iteration, however, Galaxy A5 remains a good buy when comes to a good specification with low price. The Galaxy S7 is the winner of this face-off, however, the price tag might discourage some Samsung fans to buy it, they can buy the Galaxy A5 (2015) with few comprises.
