Man Sues Tesla Claiming Model X 'Spontaneously' Crashed Through His Home [VIDEO]
A South Korean actor and singer, Ji Chang Son sued the Palo Alto-based company, Tesla for "spontaneous acceleration" of his Model X Car parked in his garage.
According to Investopedia, a lawsuit was filed by him in the U.S. district court. The plaintiff alleged the car was speeded without his action damaging the garage interiors and steel sewer pipes.
The filing stated, "The vehicle spontaneously began to accelerate at full power, jerking forward and crashing through the interior wall of the garage, destroying several wooden support beams in the wall and a steel sewer pipe, among other things, and coming to rest in Plaintiffs' living room".
Mr.Son sued Tesla for an unreliable product, negligence, and breach of warranty. He also pleaded the court to convert this case into a class-action suit based on the previous seven instances, which lead to human deaths due to unreliability and irresponsibility on the part of Tesla to rectify the errors.
In May 2016, Mr. Brown was driving his Tesla Model S car hit the tractor-trailer when the car is in the auto-pilot mode on the National Highway. It is reported in The Daily Caller that Tesla immediately informed National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) about the incident. Unfortunately, Brown succumbed to wounds later in June.
However, Tesla has refused to accept Son's claim and denied any fault with the car's autonomous driving system. An email statement by the spokesperson of the electric car vehicle company said: "The evidence, including data from the car, conclusively shows that the crash was the result of Mr. Son pressing the accelerator pedal all the way to 100 percent".
In a statement to Online Publication Electrek, Tesla charged Mr. Son of using his celebrity status to hurt Tesla's business interest, while the investigation clearly shows that Mr. Son is at fault. Tesla further asserted that similar misconceptions happened in other cases as well are buzzing the media world brought disrepute to the company.
