Two Massive Space Rocks Are Approaching Towards Earth: What Is Next?
New discoveries are exploring new facts regarding comet or asteroid. Currently, NASA has unveiled one such revelation regarding comet or asteroid. The space agency detects two massive space rocks that are approaching towards earth.
According to THE Sun, NASA has spotted two comets that are approaching towards the earth. Both the comets will be visible from earth. One comet will be visible this week, and the other one will appear in February.
The important fact is both the comets are big in size. The massive size of the comets has already raised some queries and essential questions. The most vital question is what will be the comet's direction and journey.
C/2016 U1 is the identity of the first comet that will be visible from Earth this week. It will appear in the south-eastern sky. The movement of this comet clearly indicates that it will move further south each day until it will reach the nearest point to the sun.
The second comet that will be visible in February was detected earlier by the space agency. 2016 WF9 is the identity of this comet. Last year in November the scientists of NASA detected this object for the first time. Since then a series of questions are increasing the headache of the scientists.
It is a matter of concern that while approaching towards the earth what will be the next course of action of this object. The scientists have already pointed the massive rock "as a cross between an asteroid and a comet".
It is expected that the comet will approach towards the earth on February 25. But so far the calculation indicates that it will fly at a distance of 32 million miles from the planet.
Though the distance indicates a safe passage, but questions are still there that raises several queries. Scientists are searching all the facts to ensure the speed and distance between the comet and the earth.
Scientists have many queries regarding the 2016 WF9. The surprising fact is a list of differences persist between 2016 WF9 and a comet. Comets are actually made of rock, dust, and frozen gas. They release gas as they approach towards the sun. The released gas appears as the tail of the comets.
But 2016 WF9 doesn't contain these features. On the other hand, C/2016 U1 is identified as a comet. Differences make the process hard to define 2016 WF9 as a comet.
So far it is discovered that the diameter of 2016 WF9 is 1km. It appears as a charcoal-coloured object. Even it reflects very small amount of light.
Paul Chodas, manager of NASA's Center for Near-Earth Object Studies at the Propulsion Laboratory uttered that C/2016 U1 can be seen through a pair of strong binoculars. Though he is not ready to give any assurance, because it is not possible to measure the brightness of the comet.
The discovery and appearance of these two celestial objects must unveil a new way to identify rocks in the space. It is also a true fact that 2016 WF9 decreases the difference between asteroids and comets.
